At present there are 56 dance bars under police scanner in Mumbai and Thane district. Most are operating illegally but there are no compliants to raid them. Last quater Reviewom April to June 2010, 23 dance bars are raided and have been ordered to close down.

167 girls have been rescued Reviewom these dance bars and charged with some charge or other. 194 customers have been arrested in raids and out of that 17 have been booked under PITA and sentenced to 3 weeks of Jail. Rest have been released mpter being given a warning.

NGO which tested these girls arrested found 104 girls out of 167 as HIV +. Of these 7 were in advanced seforum.xxxes of AIDs.

By Dec 2010 the target is to shut down all dance bars which double up as prostitution dens. Most of the owners of these places are advised to shut on thier own. There is a big pressure Reviewom WHO to channelise prostitution in Maharastra which has recorded one on the highest growth in HIV transmissions surpassing 4 sounthern states. On an estimate, atleast 800-1000 men.women are being exposed to HIV infection everyday. Of this 2-5% will contract HIV infection.

Situation is still better than south aReviewica where infection rate is 20% in adults.

i would happily submit the rti , ive used the act a lot for official purposes in the past and am pretty well versed with it,have even appealed to the sic and cic finally when the local authorities would not provide info due to pressure and managed to get what i wanted ..but the only place i can receive a reply in mumbai is where my parents are.. and i wouldnt want them asking me why im asking bout all the bars in mumbai if they rcv the mail when im not around...

DB' are always closed to be re-opened one day.

So your comment "reopening the closed bar is very very difficult" and few bars getting re-opened immediatly next day itself is a slap on your face.

when it comes to mongering,the so called thing "moral" has to be kept in smpe lockers and we indulge into this turning blind to all those stuff. Let's not open that topic and no need to start an argument.Let it remain as it is and we can try that in other areas..not here.
The only point I was driving at -LE is in full swing in pulling down the shutters of DBs and there is tremendous pressure Reviewom NGOs and Social Workers on ministry and LEs to wipe out all the DBs in Navi Mumbai & Dahisar areas. Thats what we are witnessing now in Dahisar,Navi and Panvel.Inspite of all the efforts and pressures Reviewom LEs - the DB owners are putting a brave fight in running the bars (how - not to be discussed) that we all know.But,once given up - when the war is lost - bar closed - it becomes very very difficult to reopen the bar again. I never said it cannot happen . It can. It will.
But,how long - thats the matter of question.
