Hey all,

I'd like to preface this by saying I have read a whole lot on this board and learned a lot...many of you obviously have sporting man's PhDs

Do I need to make reservations ahead of time for hotels like the Del Rey? I intended to do so, however several postings about "questionable types" in the Blue Marlin lately suggests it is wiser to check things out first before making a committment to hunt there.

However, if the negative hype is wrong, and it is necessary to book long ahead of time, I'd be SOL.

Of course the other fly in the ointment is that I am traveling with coworkers who are there on business which means off site play is necessary.

Welcome to the board. You should make reservations ahead of time (as soon as you know the dates) at whatever hotel you want to stay at. Some places get booked up months ahead of time, especially for a big weekend, like Memorial Day or CRT anniversary weekend. I'm not sure what you mean by "questionable types". There are questionable types everywhere in the world. That's an exaggeration.

Of course the other fly in the ointment is that I am traveling with coworkers who are there on business which means off site play is necessary.

Do not stay at the Del Rey if you are travelling with co-workers and you can't be seen with working girls. That would just be cruel and unusual punishment to stay there and not be able to partake. :evil: Stay at the Holiday Inn and then sneak away to Del Rey, find a chica, and take her to one of the short stay hotels in the area. Your other option is to visit one of the many fine massage parlors (MP's).

Welcome to the board.
I'd recommend, no matter what hotel you choose, that you book your reservation as soon as you have your flights booked. Most hotels let you cancel, without a penalty, as long as you let them know within a few days from your original reservation date.

I'd also recommend spending $39 on a VIP membership. It'll pay for itself by the end of your 1st trip, and then some.

Once you've gotten your membership, there'll be much more info for you to read in the VIP section, and other sections, plus many pics and videos.

There's not too many of your questions that haven't already been answered on the board somewhere. Read, read, and then read some more. Once you've done that, you've barely scratched the surface. Then you go back and READ some more.

Very simple answer:

Reservation is a must. Monger favorite fill up quickly and overflow takes up the secondary hotels.

No reservation lands you in the chica unfriendly hotels. The bright side of that is the eco-tourists can fill you in on the Rosetta spoonbill

Especially the popular ones, Sportsman, Presidente, and Del Rey, fill up quickly, but sometimes they have cancellations. Always call back if they are full when you first check.
