Where to eat?/Where do you eat after or before going to La Coahuila?

I bet there are other Travel Channel addicts here. No Reservations seems to reflects our lifestyle. That being said, I've asked a few restaraunts if they have any dishes made with chicharrones (fried pork rinds)? Answer has almost always been no. One restaraunt in the diagonal alley/mall between Constitucion and Revolucion where McDonalds is said they could make any dish with chicharrones on the side. When I got my meal it was covered with green peas. Am I saying or pronouncing something wrong? Is chicharrones a regional thing? Mole with peas didn't do it for me at all.

I gave mine to a homeless guy asking if I could give him half of my taco. I told him I wasn't going to finish my last taco so I gave it to him. Then I was seforum.xxxgering to get to the Paraditas. Man great food great women.

I am a taco fiend. There are a ton of good taco stands all over. I load up on Tacos in the AM and about the time the sun starts going down, the hot dog men come out. I can eat about 10 bacon dogs on the way to the border.

My vote is for the outdoor stand at the corner of Calle Coahuila and Ninos Heroes next to the seafood stand. Those roasted green onions really hit the spot. My only personal complaint (and I'm sure I'm a minority) is I wish the tacos were smaller. I want to order everything at every stand, but they make them so large I can only have a maximum of 2 per sitting. I feel bad if I don't eat it all with other hungry people around, so I always wolf the whole thing down. I suppose I can use this as my excuse for continuing to come to the Zona. to try all the taco varieties at all stands.

Well that restaurant in the corner(Niٌos Heroes and Coahuila) doesn't always have any clientele. Doesn't really talk to me. And it looks like everyone else also wants to eat on that taco stand just outside.

Yes, I was referring to that taco stand.... the best if all of TJ... they also have intestine taco, which I tried once... very unique, very fattie, but I won't have it again because I am not sure if they are clean...

Their carne asade is also very good; the only place that makes it from a whole slice of steak... they pile the meat as high as the tortilla's can fit.... they also offer a carne asada torta; it is so big that I can't even finish it and costs $3....

Also, they have 3 kinds of hot sauce, salsa, cucumber, green onions, limes, grilled jalapenos, and beans....

You can tell it is a good place because they often get huge take-out orders....

I usually have one taco before and after each chica.... small portions of food gives you the fuck energy without being too filling....

Gents: keep the meals small and frequent... you hate to run out of energy half way through a session...

Apparently thebadguy was intending to praise the taco cart on the Northeast corner of the crossroads (i.e. the intersection of Coahuila & Constitution). Sampson likes that cart & so do I.

There is a sister cart (they previously had common ownership & probably still does) on Nino Heroes that manyquestions11 was probably also praising:

Unfortunately the cart at the crossroads rarely offers lengua anymore - So I currently dine often at the one on Nino Heroes. I also like the (relatively new) permanent taco restaurant on that same corner (Southeast corner of Coahuila & Nino Heroes).

I agree with you whole heartly.... they have the best tacos not only in the Zona, but also in all of TJ; in fact, they have the best tacos I ever had. Next time you go, try their birria sopa.... the best soup I ever had.... it is a pork soup that takes literally 6 hours to make (I checked it out on recipe.com). There's something about the soup, the tacos, the smell of chlorine and urine, the paraditas the hustlers I have come to love.... it is beautiful there!

I like watching this kind of great programming where you could get a glimpse of some ho's. Even if it's for a bit. Last time I was watching a commercial in the Food Network and this dude was in SEA and I was getting excited about some ho's coming out in the background. I like watching anything ho related like that confession type show that aired on HBO. I forget the name. It was cool. I've yet to watch that MSNBC special about porn "Business of Pleasure." I believe that's the name.

That is exactly what Andrew Zimmern said on Bizarre Foods two weeks ago when he featured the cuisine from Tijuana's Zona Norte. He said the tounge tacos were sueforum.xxx! He should try DATY.

Damn the tacos of the taco stand of Ninos Heroes and Calle Coahuila are fantastic. I couldn't eat fast enough to satisfy the demand of my stomach. It wanted more and more. They are delicious plus they give you a lot of meat too. They are nice and fat. The damage for my three tacos and a Pepsi was 44 Pesos. Well worth the price.

Tijuana has some restaurants that would get rave reviews in most US cities. The food is excellent as is the service. (Being a waiter is still a profession in Mexico.) Many aren't far from the Zona Norte either. On my short list for places offering fine dining in Rio Rio (the financial district, which is close to the ZN) are:

I believe the place that closed a couple of years ago had stools a few years before it closed, but there is no place like that now. The guy that ran it was a padrote and he is only in the padrote business now.

In the last years, he did have 3 stools on the right as you walked in.

Yep there was a tile counter, the dude inside cooking the tacos, you sit on the stool and eat. 3 stools.

Well I'll only mention this place because is conviniently located in La Figueroa track. How about the taco truck/lonchera in Vernon and Figueroa? Those tacos are good. I love the atmosphere. There's a lot of room. And you never know when you might pick up a latina.
