What can I do, introducing a new dog into the envoirment for a few days or so?

Well my mom's best friend has just been diagnosed with cancer. She can't take care of the dog because she has to be at the hospital days at a time, and she can't afford to keep paying a dog sitter to watch her dog. So my mom volunteered to watch her dog and find Bear ( That's the dog's name ) a new home. I currently have 3 chihuahuas, and they aren't the, um, how do you say, the friendliest to other dogs. They won't attack the dog, but they WILL keep the dog away from their stuff. And my grandmother's dog will not yet the dog eat. I was thinking of introducing them at the park. Do you think I should do that? Any other tips are appreciated.

you should definitely introduce them all at a park ... and i would not even introduce them immediately upon seeing each other ... i would have them all go for the longest walk they can tolerate with no sniffing each other, just keep walking ... you want to get rid of a lot of their physical energy ... when you turn around to head home, you can let the dogs sniff each other a bit and then just keep walking ... i work as a dog sitter and i introduce all new dogs this way and even dogs that do not do well with other dogs seem to tolerate new ones after a long walk together ... if your grandmother's dogs will not let the new dog eat, it needs to be disciplined ... no dog is in charge, especially of the food, and i would definitely discipline any behaviour that is not wanted ... and bear should be allowed to eat in peace ...

When introducing a dog to other dogs, put up a baby gate. Put the new dog on one side, the other dogs on the other side. They can sniff without getting into fights. After a day or so, supervise them in a room together. The new dog will know that the others are the pack leaders, and will stay submissive. Always feed them seperately and supervise when together. They should be fine. Use lots of treats and rewards for good behavior on all the dogs when they are getting along.
