I'm not trying to make the case that no one has ever picked up a disease, broken up their family, etc... these things also happen in the non-hobbying world as well. It's just that I've barely read about it on the board at all, and the fact that I would need to go back a number of years to do so is telling. This anecdotal worst-case scenario does not seem to be the position most massageplanet.net members find themselves in, including presumably Sweety himself.
As many have commented, it's all about being responsible, keeping balance, knowing your limits, etc. As with alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc. there are a minority of people who are not able to regulate themselves in this manner. I am empathetic to the plight of addicts, so I would add, if you can't opt out, then get help. But here again, don't make your problem my problem: I believe that legislating and infringing upon my freedom is precisely what Sweety implies with comments like this:
