Anyway, it's not cheap anymore. The price is around 120/150 lv for one hour.
But it seems that many people take profit of it (taxi driver, pimp and the girl).

Plus police seems to crack down some appartements/bordelos. So pimp and sex club will be our last savior.

Visited Sofia last year, nice place, cheap accomodation and food. little tourist xenophobia (specialy when you start speaking english). Even a good connection with a cab driver will only lead you to visit 90% of the city tourist places (not all ripp off actually but not well spent money). Adds on the internet are very poor, although very affordable and rather honest (do it on day time only). As usual Cabs are trustable only if they are from a big company.

Hello fellow pervs. I diligently read the posts in this thread and got a lot of useful information. Seems to me this is what this place is all about, exchanging information, not attacking each other personally. I was born in Sofia, and consider myself lucky that my parents were able to get me out of that stalinist communist country back in 1968. I grew up in the west, but still speak good, albeit slightly accented bulgarian. I went to Bulgaria once during the communist era, was arrested for having my hair too long, and then was released after producing my foreign passport. I attempted to go back in 1982, but couldn't go in after waiting for 3 months for an entry visa, so I went to Greece and Turkey instead. My first time after the fall of Communism was in the summer of 2004. I found Bulgaria and its people completely transformed having shunned the strict socialist ways and embraced the west. I was welcomed in every restaurant, bar and hotel. The locals usually approached me speaking English or German as I didn't look like a local, but as soon as I spoke Bulgarian, I never saw such big smiles come on so quickly. I can say the following with confidence. If you speak Bulgarian you can get cheaper prices in restaurants, museums, bars, hotel rooms and yes probably hookers. During my visit in 2004 I was accompanied by my 11 year old son, so I didn't attemt to even buy anyone a drink in a bar, much less talking to a hooker. I didn't see any obvious street walkers in Sofia, but I was safely back in my hotel room by 9 PM most nights. I was very surprised when I saw 20 or more girls waiting on the main square in Albena when my young son and I were heading back to our hotel around midnight. So it seems that Bulgaria has gone 180 degrees around from a strict country when men served a year in labor camps for telling an anti-government joke to street walkers ganging up on unsuspecting foreigners openly by the Lion's Bridge. I dont really fault the government for trying to clean up the street walkers from that area, it is a couple of blocks from the main bus depot and train station - first thing many people see when arriving in Sofia. Am I lecturing? Sorry about that. I actually have a couple of questions for workinspain's bulgarian girlfriend, who seems to have her finger on the pulse of modern Sofia better than most people here. She mentioned the Tequila Bar. Are there any other good places for two handsome foreign men around 50 to go and check out the local non working women? Can we assume that we can find some attractive late thirties or early forties Bulgarian women out for a night of good time? Any suggestions for places in Sofia, Plovdiv, Bansko, Rilski Monastery, Sunny Beach, Golden Sands and Varna will be appreciated. Aslo what is the best way to find a short stay apartment for rent in Sofia and Plovdiv?
Anyone else who has any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. My friend who is not Bulgarian and I will be spending about 3 weeks in Bulgaria in July 2006. We are staying in Sofia and Plovdiv for a few days, riding motorcycles thru Rila, Pirin and Stara Planina, then a few days in Sunny Beach and Golden Sands. Neither of us have ever paid for sex, not saying we have a moral dilemma with it, it just has never been a necessity. Should this come up, are the girls in private apartments the best way to go? What about the girls I read about hanging around rural roads - are they safe or just a scam to scam foreigners of their wallets?

After reading your report regarding Bulgaria I can see there is no point in wasting money in going there.I will just stick to my favourite place in the world, Bangkok.For what you pay for women in Sofia for one night I could get a lovely Thai girl (my last one was 23yrs old) for a week plus with good attitude, GFE exellent.
Being retired at 46yrs (due to bad accident) I have all the time in the world to enjoy myself and flying halfway round the world doesn,t bother me at all.I know whats waiting for me when I get there.

Just came back from Sofia and report...

Have managed to find only 2 web based escorts in Sofia. The first (Reny/Paula) was too expensive (500 Euros per night) and not too good looking. The second (Lora Davidson), they are actually two ladies in their late twenties / early thirties, don't charge much, with limited services. Didn't like them much too.

Went to a strip club called Kama Sutra, located at Dondukov 19 (500-600 meters from Sheraton) with friends who work there in foreign firms. Rates: 50 Euros (1 hour), 100 Euros (3 hours) and 150 Euros (6 hours). Nothing special really. Met a Russian girl called Alex and had a reletively good service.

Foggiepete: Bulgaria cannot be compared to Thailand. If you're used to the girls and services offered in BKK you will be dissapointed if you go to Sofia.

For what is worth I'm with Gladiator here. I think that "workinspain" is full of shit. Have been to Bulgaria 5 times since 1992 and haven't seen to many changes. Last time there was last year. Gladiator is right; only a very small percentage of Bulgarian girls speak some english. Workinspain and his girlfriend forgot to tell us that most bulgarians are liars and unreliable. Sorry guys to defend what "work in spain" is/are saying.
It's their opinion. Since everybody can give his opinion, I don't see what is wrong with that. I travelled a lot and met enough persons to see thet what work in spain is saying is coherent, even if doesn't look like.

Working in spain, can you give me some other spots name where Fun People are in Sofia. You can use my private message box if you don't want to post anymore.
I'll have one week off and I think that Sofia can definitly be a good Fiesta Zone.

In his first post workinspain says that he’s been to Bulgaria only twice.

In his following 2 posts he starts lecturing as if he knew the Bulgarian scene better than anyone else -despite having been there only twice- and at the same time providing inaccurate information.

Then he says in some posts that he’s a Bulgarian girl and in others that he’s her boyfriend: ‘Ale, Mari’s boyfriend’ (as if people came to this forum telling their real names), but on the other hand all his posts are written in the same BS style, with the same tone and using exactly the same pitiful English, which shows clearly that all have been written by the same idiot.

Finally he says 99% of people in Bulgaria speak English, which shows that in fact he hasn’t even been to Bulgaria because only a minority of people do speak it, as I could personally check when I was in Sofia. In particular, less than 10-15% of young nonpros in Sofia were able to mumble some English from what I saw, the vast majority spoke no English at all, and this guy is saying all young nonpros speak English perfectly – utter BS.

It’s quite clear that this guy is a wannabe monger who most probably hasn’t gone out of his basement back home in his entire life.

workinspain: travel abroad, go mongering, get some experience and when you are back post something of value, that is the purpose of this forum; because if you just turn up here, as you’ve done, posting BS and obvious misinformation you come across as a fool.

If you go to a bar in Sofia to pick up non-pros try to speak to them in Bulgarian, because if you speak to them in English they won't understand you over 90% of the times, so you won't get too far...

I mean, even if they are easy nonpros you still have to tell them something they'll understand before taking her to your room, don't you?

That's the biggest problem picking up nonpros in Sofia: the language barrier.
