should uniforms be introduced into american schools?

always around this time of year, in the beauty and fashion section, every second question is about what should i wear for school, is this trendy etcetc.
i'm irish and our schools have uniform and yes annoying but as i grew older, i see the sense.
i know some american schools have uniforms.
but should they be induced into every school?
it would stop people being bullied based on their clothes and prob save parents money.
there be no more worrying over, what will i wear?
what do ye think?
well i don't think you always have to use clothes to express your opinions and how your feel.
plus your only wearin it for like 8 hours

I think school uniforms should be mandatory in US public schools. I go to a Catholic school in America where we had to wear uniforms. I know some US public schools have uniforms, but it is pretty rare. Even if they do, the uniform policies are not always enforced. In my school shirts must be tucked in, your uniform must be clean and worn appropriately, girls can not wear any make-up or dangling earrings, and all shoes must be black and uniform appropriate.

Personally, I LOVE wearing uniforms, as do most of my friends. It is cheaper and so much easier than regular clothes, not to mention you look MUCH nicer as a whole. A lot of people argue that uniforms suppress creativity, but I must disagree. We can wear our hair however we like with colorful clips and such. Of course, you can not have any crazy colors or hairdos but clips and bows are fine. Also, several times during the year we have N.U.T. Days (no uniform today) where we pay $1 that is given to charity to wear regular clothes to school (appropriate clothing, of course).

I think uniforms should be inforced in all US schools. I think it would help with bullying and make kids focus more. Maybe that would fix how our modern and developed country ranks so low in international math/science intelligence.

But that's just me.

I disagree when I was at school quite a few years ago now behaviour seemed to improve when everyone was comfortable wearing what they wanted. our uniform was so bad too hot in the summer not warm enough in the winter and the blazer was so heavy no one liked it.

I'm not sure... On one hand i definitely see how it will stop the teasing of people who dont wear like the big brand names and such but i also think that people should be able to express their style and personality throuh clothes so i kind of have mixed feelings.

Yeah, same, I live in Ireland. It'll let them know what school they are in too...As you said it'll save WAY more money.

yeah, i loved uniforms. makes it easier for me to get ready in the mornings. otherwise i'd have to keep buying new clothes and there would be more pressure to look good or wear things that are "in." uniforms are handy,and kids wouldn't be bullied for what they wear. and speaking of individuality, you can express yourself all you want outside of school. school is a place for learning, not for fashion. girls in school are snobby and mean enough, wearing uniforms give them one less thing to pick on you about, in my opinion anyway.

No. We don't get much fights and hate out of the clothes we wear. It's what you say or do to someone that ticks them off.

No uniforms suck i had them through grade school and it wasnt comfortable, its nice not having to wear the same thing everyday and being able to wear what you like in high school.
