Should I use dry or wet food when first introducing my kittens to solid food?

Our cat had kittens. We will introduce them to solid food (in addition to mother's milk) around 4 weeks (as we've been advised). The only question is should we begin them on wet or dry kitten food? Will their little teeth be developed enough at this age to chew through dry food or is it best to introduce wet food until they are ready for weaning?
Please help, we've got less than a week left until they reach this age.

Its best to start them on high quality CANNED kitten food in chicken or lamb only. NO fish based foods and add beef only when they are eating well.

Most kittens show no interest in solid foods till 5-6 weeks old, but some may be interested at 4 weeks. You can put down dry to nibble on when they are 7 weeks old (and do NOT wet it down as it will spoil).

Rehome them after 10-12 weeks old and not before as they are not totally weaned till 8 weeks and are not totally reliable with the litter pan on a consistent basis till closer to 3 months old. Plan on spaying mom when the kits are 8 weeks old.

When my cat had kittens, we started them on Kitten Chow, in a yellow bag. It is hard food, but in smaller pieces so their mouths can handle it and be able to chew through the food. If you see that this isn't working, use the wet food at a last resort. They need to strengthen themselves to be able to eat hard food sooner or later!
