You can travel either by bus which is about 2.5 hours which will get you to downtown Lo Wu or by boat which is about 1 hour or so but then you would need to take a taxi if you want to get to downtown Lo Wu which will be about another 45 minutes.

I lived in Shenzhen 2005-2007, and have now returned to Shenzhen about a month ago. Though it's easy enough to get a girlfriend sometimes "no strings" fun is nice. Maybe it's because I'm a white guy, or because my chinese is limited, but I've never been able to pay less than 150 in Luohu or Futian. I never tried in Shekou or Nanshan so I can't tell you. Be smart and skip the filipinas, sure it's nice that they speak english but you'll pay through the nose for it, I heard of an american guy paying $500 usd for the night with a girl from Vbar (ordinary looking filipina). Crazy IMO.

Shenzhen is a safe place. I've been there three times and have met at least 10 Americans and Australians aged 18-35 that have lived there from 2 months to 10 years. Here's what I learned....
-if you ride the busses, you have to watch out for thiefs and pickpockets--common sense type stuff
-realize that people will always try to charge you more money for items; be aware of that and BARGAIN
-the only bars that stay open past midnight are mafia owned. Stay out of those bars if you absolutely want to avoid trouble. Or, at the very least, avoid contact with women in those bars to avoid an altercation.
-basically, as long as you behave in the bars and night clubs, and don't walk around secluded areas at night you'll be fine. I never, never felt afraid in Shenzhen.

I've written other posts about the sex there. Its cheap, but very very mechanical. You're lucky if you find girls that give blow jobs. Some extremely hot girls can be found (model quality) but they will be at least 400RMB.

I remember visiting Shenzen 21 years ago... was not looking for action..!! But never felt unsafe.

I remember a trick I use to use in Africa etc . I would walk around in a suit. I would pay a hotel driver etc to be my driver etc. I found that when I was realy dressed up... the locals treated me with real respect. I think they where too scared of who I might be or know ??

I would strongly suggest that you give Shenzen a miss and focus on CP. You will not regret. Go through this thread and you would have a fairly good idea on the recommended hotels. You can then call the hotel directly or book through the internet

For reasonably good hotels...you should be able to get for between rmb200-300. Not sure if there is increase in rates during CNY. I doubt the rates for girls will be increased.

No, you don't understand - it is reaaaally bad. Mexico is a field trip compared to Shenzen, first of all - people in mexico are use to seeing white people. Whereas when in Shenzen, when they see you they see -- $$$$$$ or your kidneys which they will sell for $$$$.

Im serious, go to Hong Kong instead of Shenzen its just one trainstop away. Not to mention the girls there are way much classier and hotter than the mainland chicks in shenzen. One thing is that they actually know how to shave in Hong Kong. I mean, most of the girls providing services in hong kong are mainlanders working in HK but their triad bosses make them clean up - whereas in Shenzen they don't give a rats ass.

The chinese in shenzen will try to rip you off if they know u are a foreigner. Not to mention they will rob you - with a knife or even worse. I know plenty of stories about how my white friends got jacked there. Don't go unless ur with a pack of your hommies.
