I am a Reiki "Master" and I also make use of other blends of Energy work which is incorporated into every session.Some clients ask for Reiki alone, for distance Reiki or for other types of Energetic Healing but most of my clients prefer to have Bodywork as well, since they get Energy work included!

I am also a reiki master, always working to be a clear channel. I used reiki in all my (by hand) massages, primarily on feet, knees, hands and head. I also begin a session with a minute of reiki and some breathwork. I find it sets a very nice tone for the massage. Once a client has become accustomed to it, on subsequent visits, their body naturally responds from the very start.Clients really seem to love it and often ask, "What did you do on my knees?" This gives me the opportunity to explain. Reiki alone can be a difficult sell, but combined with massage, it gives people who would never try it, just a little taste.Now my challenge is to incorporate it in my Ashiatsu OBT. Opening the foot chakras is the intention, then the energy can run throughout the session.I think it's a wonderful addition to massage!Sally

I'm level 2 Reiki.  I use it pretty much only in conjuction with a massage, as most of my customers want hands on, and frankly, I don't like spending a lot of time on it if it doesn't flow fairly easily or if the client isn't feeling it much.  (Though one time I used it on the way home from a client and got these freaky red streaks all over my chest!  I was aiming at clearing thrush, a yeast infection she was sharing with her nursing baby,  from her chest. It helped!) If a client is really sensitive to it, the massage will let me know, and then I'll really be able to surprise them with a deeper experience. Otherwise, they get a good structurally based massage. It also depends on how I'm feeling at the moment.  I'm still working on that clear channel bit. (Aren't we all?) Sharp64

I am a Reiki Master and also use it in conjunction with massage. I feel it flows through me to affect a change for the client. I have always felt this way, since I became a Reiki 1. Reiki knows where it needs to. How beautiful is that! ;D

I'm a Reiki II and its done so much to keep me with warm hands.  I get told I have "hot hands" (in a good-feeling way)Lately I have been finishing my massages with my client prone and after I work their back I pull up the sheet and do Reiki from about L4 to T3.  The clients get all "floaty".  My sessions tend to end up being chatty until I get to the back, so it is a great way to end a session.  The client is very relaxed and I am happy to see them smiling and rosy.I like to use Reiki on my pets.  I know that is off topic, but it is good for them, too and they are "clients", they just pay in licks, not $.  Do I have to report the licks to the IRS as income? ha ha

 I've had Reiki I training and it seems to always show up in a massage session whenever it is to the client's best interest.  Between the Reiki and the Ki Energy Healing classes I take, there is nearly as much energy flowing during a massage as there is massage being done, often simultaneously.  The clients love it, and it makes the "repair work" on aching necks, backs, hips, etc go so much more smoothly.Having "hot hands" from the Reiki is something that is commented on favorably by clients all the time.   They don't know how to describe what the "heat" is doing for them, but, they sure seem to find it helpful during their massages.

I have been trained in advanced Reiki for about six months and love using it during massage. I don't use it in every session, but when it feels right I do use it. I have also used it on my cats at home, they seem to know when they need it and I have felt the effects of it on them. I see other modalities as a way to help my clients and Reiki is one that I have found very helpful for them as well as myself. I have also found that since the training I had that I feel more in touch with my clients and their needs.  It has helped me know where to go and what to do when it comes to massage.

I received REIKI 1 training in Massage School along with an Applied Energetics course.I truly love Reiki and use it at the beginning of massage especially if my client's energy is heavy or has a lot of stress.    I have not incorporated the Applied Energetics techniques with massage as of yet, this type of energywork requires the use of several crystals placed along the body.SD Bliss......keep us posted on the results of your Reiki training!

I had my first day of Polarity class yesterday. (just an intro course)My "Reiki" hot hands came "on" while doing it.  The gal I was working with picked up on it.  She just became a Reiki.Anyway, I think the Reiki helped - and I think that's pretty neat!

I am a highly left brained person. When I received several signs that I should become a reiki practitioner, for some reason I just dove right in. Reiki helped open that whole side of me that had been ignored. Yes, I really enjoyed Reiki I. It was a great beginning for me.Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you. Reiki fits well with "standard" massage therapies and I feel especially well with aromatherapy massage. Just the other day I gave a MT friend a Thai Foot Massage and she said she could feel the healing flowing through my hands. At the time I had no intent to provide any Reiki Healing.We are both RII Practitioners but do differ, unlike many, I am a "giver" in that I do not benefit from the healing energy as it passes through me whereas my friend does.More and more therapists in the UK are becoming attuned to Reiki and use it either with other therapies or as a stand alone treatment. I feel that it is never turned off and the energy will be channelled whether you decide to give Reiki or not.The only thing I would say to Carol is, don't try to force it, let the Reiki skill develop and take a year or two before moving to Master. I know people who have sat at RII for several years, it'll all happen when it's supposed to.Be well.

Can I barge in on your question for a minute??I was attuned Reiki II several years ago. I have not practiced it much stand alone and rarely go into a massage with the intention to give it, however, many times I feel my hands heat up and know there is energy flowing.My question is, should I get reattuned? I don't remember anything about distance healing so I would like a refresher there. Just curious.

If you feel the need to be re-attuned, you can certainly do so. However, Reiki is all about intention. Personally I feel there is no need to learn symbols or even follow any "taught" steps for distance Reiki. Focus your intention and let it flow. Using a photo or surrogate (like a teddy bear) for the person receiving can help you set the intent.While I don't wish to start a debate, I am not big on levels nor on attunements. I know Reiki I practitioners who channel more energy than "Masters". It's about practice, and working on yourself to become the clearest channel you can be, and it's about intent. I eventually came to the opinion that attunements were sort of like having someone wave a magic wand over you, proclaiming in a deep voice, "Now you are a Reiki I", which strikes me as silly. It also reminds me of certain religious practices that place the head of the church (minister, priest, whatever) as closer to God than the rest of us common folk. Just as I believe you don't need to "go through" anyone else in your place of worship to reach your Highest Guide, I also believe you can receive a direct reiki attunement directly from Source just by very consciously asking for it.However, this is an opinion I have come to after many years and standard attunements. If you are interested in Reiki, I still recommend going the traditional route for Reiki I, then see where it leads. Once you are on the path, you'll know what level you are at and when to ask for more. The traditional steps for distance reiki and all the symbols are available in Diane Stein's Essential Reiki. Contrary to centuries of warnings, she was not struck by lightening after revealing all the reiki secrets. This gift now belongs to everyone.Blessings to all,Sally

One more thing...RedTed, when you say "I am a 'giver' in that I do not benefit from the healing energy as it passes through me", do you mean you don't feel the energy as it passes through you, or that you are certain it does you no good. If the latter, how do you know? I have never heard anyone else say this.Just curious...Sally

An exaggeration perhaps. There has certainly been a veil of secrecy around all types of energy work, with dire warnings to those "threatening" to expose those secrets for many, many years. While reiki is a relatively newer interpretation of an ancient art, I believe that energy is energy, it all comes from the same Source. You can get an attunement for several different variations of reiki, with assurances that one is different/better than another. One may be polka-dotted, one may be striped. It borders on the absurd, especially if you do a search on Ebay for "attunement".So while the warnings to disclose the secrets of reiki are limited to the number of years reiki has been in "existence", energy work has been around for thousands of years and only recently has someone been brave enough to publish their knowledge of it. How wonderful!

So glad to hear you enjoyed your reiki class. Practicing is the best way to become a clear channel. Work on everyone you can! Pets love reiki, although some prefer to receive from a bit of a distance. Before she passed, my lovely girl Sunshine (husky-shepherd-lab) used to lie under my massage table whenever I was doing reiki. Once she even stayed under the table while my husband cooked bacon and eggs in the kitchen!  So practice, practice, practice and when you're ready, whether it's next month or next year, continue on. There shouldn't be a set time table. As an MT, I'm sure you have the awareness that will tell you when you're ready.Welcome to reiki!

I have been teaching Reiki for 7 years and have seen wonderful changes in folks who take a Reiki workshop and give themselves Reiki (and others) on a regular basis.
