Reiki Level I attunement

Hi everyone! I've been soooo busy lately that I haven't had time to post. However, I wanted to share my excitement! After two years of waiting for the right opportunity, I am finally going for my Level I Reiki attunement on Saturday .

Anyone have any tips or pointers for me?

Congratulations! I'm still a massage therapy student but have a level II Reiki certification.

Be sure to use the practice on yourself, plants, animals, etc. I didn't practice much at first and I wish I had.

Thanks you two! I'm just looking forward to it so much. I will probably practice on anything and anyone I can get my hands on! My husband, my dogs, and I will be sooo happy Maybe I'll practice on the neighbor's yodeling hound dog, even. Then there's my mentor who just had surgery. He'll definitely be getting a visit from me too!

No tips or pointers but wanted to say that after my level one Reiki attunement (2001), I felt like I was plugged in! ...like I had a cord dangling out and then it got plugged into the world/universe/energy/matter matrix, hah-hah. The synchronicities started to pour in - being in places at seemingly coincidental moments, etc. Maybe I do have a tip; expect the unexpected.

I practiced level one for 6 months before taking level two.

Maybe I'll practice on the neighbor's yodeling hound dog, even.

A quick note on working on animals. I have found that most animals are very sensitive to energy of any form. My dog Sunshine (the best dog in the world, now in puppy heaven) used to lie underneath the massage table whenever I was doing Reiki. She LOVED it. But working on her directly, hands on, would last only about a minute before she would walk away. Too strong. Don't be discouraged if animals seem to not want Reiki. Just adjust your style so you are not doing it hands on. You may even have to back up a couple of feet!

Well my dear it's Reiki time I see! Just relax and enjoy it---believe me you will definitely feel wonderful,but the detox is/can be a wild ride! Remember hydrate,hydrate,hydrate! Experiment & enjoy the ride! You may find your hands
turning on, without knowing why then realize there is someone, or something, nearby that needs it & your subconscious link has picked up the signal !

Also, when I first had the Reiki 1 attunement I worked on another woman who was on her period & it really brought on a stronger than usual flow. Maybe it needed to happen, but it was unexpected for her. So, don't worry about it, but just file it for future reference.

I've also had the experience of my cats, looking strangely at me & leaving when I tried to work on them. Other times they seem to accept it, so I suppose they just need to be in the mood. But than that's always the way with them, so it seems !

Have fun with it & definitely use it for self-help as well.

So here I am, a Reiki I practitioner.

The attunement was a beautiful experience, and the teacher and I get on so well it seemed more of a meeting between good friends than a class. It was one-on-one.

As I'm sure you all know, I can't really describe how the attunement felt. I tried to tell my teacher, after it was done, that I felt "full" if that makes sense. And my finger tips and toes take to buzzing every now and then, even today. All during the attunement, my eyes were closed and I kept seeing a heart. It would flash up green. Mostly it stayed green but a couple of times it flashed up pink.

When I gave my first session to my husband, it felt as if energy was being poured like a big bowl of water, through my crown, and it was coming out of my hands - and feet! Mostly my hands. My hubby had been out drinking coffee and was super hyper when he got on the table. But by the time I'd been giving him Reiki for 10 minutes, he was asleep!

When I got home, I gave myself a treatment. Then I tried it on my dogs who looked at me like "What the....?" My big dog loved it, rolled over and presented her belly to me and kept sniffing my hands LOL. My little dog - I'm not sure. She's been extra clingy since I gave her a little Reiki LOL. OH! and I tried it on the yodeling hound next door and he quieted right down.

Treated myself again last night as I drifted to sleep, and again this morning before I got out of bed. Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty good right now.

So far, no detoxing. If anything my digestion has improved (thank goodness - been having minor problems) I've been drinking plenty of water and herbal teas.

Thanks everyone for your tips and good wishes. I can't wait to introduce this modality to my clients this week .

Ahhh the buzz of Reiki channels being opened!!! Sometimes you just cannot describe the feelings-they just are what they are. I can remember how free and light and full of joy I felt after my attunement!!! I was just floating on a cloud!!!!!Neat you saw colors......Green is great one--the Heart Chakra--the place of Love,Forgiveness,Compassion and Self Esteem. You were probably feeling like someone was giving you a big warm hug,and Reiki was pouring out of your heart. A wonderful experience! Keep drinking the green tea- very soothing and cleansing.Drinking the water helps toh believe me hon,you will feel the detox!!! Maybe not now,but it's coming.Headaches,nausea/vomiting ,constipation are all common physical effects of detox as you clear physical blockages.You may even get sad or cry for no unknown reason,be depressed or just not "yourself".Journaling or drawing about these feelings or sensations can help you track your progress as you cleanse your channels.Do Reiki on yourself and as much as you can. It helps your energy get stromger and helps to further clear and open your channels. Just enjoiy all that Reiki will give you....share this wonderful gift with others as much as you can!!

One thing that may help, to help avoid or lessen any detox effects, is not only drinking plenty of water, it's taking plenty of trace minerals, electrolytes & potassium. Green drinks are helpful as well.

I honestly don't recall having any major side effects, so it can be different for different people. Enjoy the extra energetic flow & if you want to add to the energy rush start doing Qi-Gong, or Tai-Chi too!

I also don't recall any major detox. It's good to prepare yourself for it, take extra care of yourself, but don't consider yourself "doomed" to go through it! Not everyone does.

I love this forum. Y'all are so supportive and kind .

Still no major detoxes for me, but I've had several psychic/empathic experiences since my attunement. That's something that used to be commonplace with me in my late teens/early twenties (I'm about to turn 32). I had a client yesterday who wanted to know what I "picked up" from her body during her Swedish session. I told her some physical things I'd noticed, and she made it clear that she meant something entirely different.

So, I told her a few of the things I had "seen," "felt," and "heard" during the session and they were all very accurate. I'd never even met this young lady before. :shock: I guess I'd better get used to it (again) LOL.

The other things I've noticed are:
1. Eating too much sugar makes me extremely nauseous, but just for a few moments. It's like a "STOP RIGHT THERE" warning LOL. Happened while eating my cinnamon toast this morning.

2. I'm not worrying as much. Things seem to just "fall in place." Yesterday I was late to my weekly chair massage gig (at the health food store) because of an issue I'd had with a client. Usually I would have been freaked out, running around trying to get there as fast as I could. Instead I just calmly told myself, "There's nothing I can do about it." Very calmly packed up my things, prepared my room for the next day, and got there as soon as I could. And the world didn't end! LOL.

3. Priorities seem to be much clearer since my attunement. Choices are easier to make. Guilt is far less.

So, when it says in the Reiki manual that your Reiki I attunement will change your life forever, believe it!

Absolutely Emily! Reiki is awesome and is changing you on all levels. Keep doing Reiki on others and share the gift with all you know. Hang in there......things will continue to become more and more clearer as you begin to progress and grow!
