I'm not sure whether it's racism or not. Koreans are actually one of the most racist people left in the world -- almost every one I know (both here and travel to Korea a lot) will express their feeling about a hierarchy of races. However, I'm surprised they just say "Asian" because Koreans generally consider Chinese very low on the race ladder.

I think it must not be racism then, but rather the point made earlier about how most Koreans think STDs are only carried by white and black people. In Seoul there are very many brothels that will not allow white or black clients. So it is discrimination, but not quite the kind of racism you think -- it is more of an ignorance. To summarize, Koreans are generally racist but think highly of white people except they think white people are much more risky for STDs. Koreans don't think much of black people though.

yes and never mind to mention all the whites that died in asia during ww2. i'm pretty sure not one person on this board had a hand in the atrocities to which you speak yet you bring up history in order to justify continuing racism. also i have thought of this very often about the japanese in the internment camps during ww2. now i love japan and i love japanese people. for christ sakes i even had a japanese girlfriend. in the beginning i thought having that done to them was very and unfair and i still kinda feel that way.

however this was a different time and place, we were at war, get it? many of these japanese still had family in japan and things like that. put yourself in the shoes of the people that made that decision. our allies had just been sneek attacked and for that matter these japanese that were here had not been a part of this community for a very long time like the chinese had been.

also the treatment of these people while in these camps was like a 4 star hotel compared to what the allies whent though in japanese camps.

Based on your previous posts, you've stated that you're an American White male and probably inescapably raised to feel threatened by Black males, reference you statement "a big black brother Max."

Simply because you have a background of racism against Black males, your imagined fears may not be shared by other groups. Accordingly, Ling Ling and her Asian parents I'd bet would probably be more than happy with her decision to date a big Black boy named Max. They might fall in love, get married and produce the next Tiger Woods...

IMHO, this is not a racist slur against non asians. Yes, I'm asian. That being said, put yourself in mamasan's shoes. Probably new(er) to the country, in a business that attracts LE, and isn't so comfortable. Would YOU ever think about restricting access to asians only?

How about this...say you are caucasian and moved to Hong Kong to open up a small little boutique store and you don't speak the language (at least not fluently). Would you feel more comfortable open this store up in an area know for ex-pats frequenting where most of the people in the area speak english? Or set up shop right in the middle of a mainly chinese speaking neighbourhood? My dear ol grandma would only shop in Chinatown because its the only place where she could communicate with all the shop employees when buying stuff.

What I'm really trying to say is let's all just calm down about this "one ethnicity" only requests from MPs. They probably would love your business but are just afraid of what might happen.

Another person's sexual preference is not one that ought to be judged, so whether or not it makes sense to you is completely irrelevant. Furthermore, sexual preference is never racist. Who a girl spreads her legs for is her personal choice.... is she expected to be an equal opportunity employer or something?



Just because I imagined a big black man named "Max" is not racist because it does not paint him in a negative light nor does it create a caricature nor does it not conform to social demography. In short, it is realistic and commonplace to perhaps encounter a large black man named "Max" as it would be to encounter a skinny gay white man named "Clarence", or a short conservative asian guy named "Steven", or a pretentious white yuppy with flamboyant hair named "James".

I'll bet you 90 times out of 100 that Ling Ling's Asian parents would not be happy to bet their daughter on a big black man, or any man not of the same descent for to do so would risk incurring all kinds of cultural losses. Even for the possibility of becoming a fabled super hero golf player, for which few would find much value anyway. Rather, they'd probably want a stable man (of the same descent) who was alredy on his way to being a doctor.

for one thing i meant seek justice about the not renting to "asians" thing. as for the victoria agency that was wrong for them to do so just like this is. think of how you felt then. what is different about this? also you probibly had to dig deep to find the one white sp that wouldn't provide service to asian men. i could probibly find at least 10 treads that restrict service to asians only with ease.

I shared my intelligence in the hopes of providing a great experience for all those longing a great experience. Little did I know my message turned into a debate of the suffering experienced by those discrimated by racism.

Well, the message from mamasan was not one to discriminate any body from attending her services. It was to prevent incidences of activity that would bring down her business.

Well, to my dismay, she was right. One of you received the information you got from me and closed her place down. She is temporary out of service because one of you fools decided it was your best interest to clean her out and her girls. Thank you for this. You've done us all a disservice, especially me. I should of kept the information to myself. The information I recieved from mamasan was the girls left because one of you told them they could make more money elsewhere. So the information spread and the girls abrutly left, leaving her out of pocket expenses and me a bitter taste of distrust. You can look it up yourself, and waste your hard earned dollars. Take it for the team. For those who requested the information, I'll get back to you cause I'm gonna chose who I give this out to.

I received 50 requests and I provided information to 40 of you. I did this as a favor to her without asking for anything in return. Now I will be wise and be like I have always been. Keep it to myself. FYI for those who have the number, call her. She will let you know when she will reopen.
