Opinions: How Many Sets of Sheets/Linens the MT's Needs

I probably operate with about 7 to 8 sets of flannel sheets on a regular basis. That way I'm still covered when I decide its time to clear out the ones which are worn, or stained, etc. Plus if I don't get my laundry done the same day I have enough to make it through the next day.

Here's a question I'd love to know if other's have problems with: When washing 2 sets of my flannel sheets together,
I always seem to end up with everything wrapping itself into a big ball. When I hear the thumping sound coming from the dryer I have to take the time to pull it out & seperate the ball of flannel and shove everything back in for round two of dryer time. Anyone else have this problem and how did you resolve it, short of drying one set at a time (which would be inefficient both time & energy wise) :?:

I don't know much about flannels, but I can only dry 2 regular twin sets at a time, due to the same problem.

I wonder if they make some sort of item you can put in the dryer to keep them from balling up?

I'll do a little googling when I get a chance and see what I come up with.

Have you ever seen dryer balls? They're blue spikey rubber balls that are supposed to keep things moving in the dryer. I can't use dryer sheets because of an allergy in the family- so I've gave these a try in my personal loads. Things dry faster and come out fluffier (don't mean to sound like a pitchman...) Maybe you could give them a try. They're not too expensive and can be found at Bed Bath and Beyond- probably other places too. A few balls may be needed for sheets...

I guess another option would be to get a larger capacity dryer if/when you need to replace your current one...

I've tried those dryer balls, and unfortunately, they ball flannel sheets up even faster. The only thing that works for me is to wash smaller items with the sheets. A few handtowels, pillowcases & facecloths usually balance the load enough to keep the sheets from tangling up. I don't know how you feel about washing your personal laundry with sheets, but that can work, too. (One set of sheets combined with a 1/2 load of clothes).

Maybe I'll try throwing a couple of tennis balls in & see what happens.

Unfortunately, I think it's the nature of flannel to
grab onto other items you wash with it. I have found pillowcases, and other items, small towels, face crescent covers, etc. tend to get caught in the corners of the fitted sheets as well as having the ball of mutant flannel sheets !
