Opening a brothel???

Does anyone know if there are any opportunities to open a brothel? Or partner up with a current owner? Is it possible? Is it a good idea to pursue? Can it be profitable for a Gringo? any advise would be greatly appreicated.

sure ..i think we have all thought about this...(once you have gone) i think the way to go is a place for daytime action.....no real strip bars in san jose for daytime action...would need to have cheap drinks, girls dancing nude at all times ....and cheap action in the back room....with at least 10 to 15 girls on site....hours from 10 am till 6.00 pm ....free cover with us id ..10 cover for locals...or go the other way...like 6th street , have a place that looks like a dump ...full service for under 10.00, have 10 ulgy and nasty girls laying aroung 20 year old sofas, bring in 2 girls that are maybe 5 or 6"s..which will get picked 20 times a day....let the girls keep 4 dollars out of every 10 and try that life style for a while.....plus we dont see or know the other side...are you needing to pay off the cops every week....are you getting robbed....are you phucking the help...like any bussiness there are many things to think about.....

I am certain you could open a brothel or strip club in Costa Rica that offers a great selection of top quality girls for reasonable prices and is open 24/7. The only hitch I see is that you need to be willing and able to lose maybe 10 to 20 thousand dollars a month until the Sun goes nova. I hope whoever follows my business plan lets me know when the grand opening is.

Why not? But it may be easier to buy an existing one. There are different ways to go about it. Hours are regulated by the type of permit you have.
So are other things like liquor sales. Do they make money? Of course.

Dream... Go sit in the Bella Mansion for an hour, you pick the time or day. Go sit in Centerfolds, pick the time or day. Tell me that they are making money after you have spent time inside.

I have it on reasonably good authority that some of these clubs are in fact fronts for organized crime money laundering operations. Others may indeed scrape by because they pay the girls by 'piecework' (pun intended) and pay the bartender and security man a dollar an hour.

When the Kamur was up for sale it took a LONG time to sell. Maybe somebody else knows the final sale price, unfortunately I don't. But considering the size of the place and how long it took to find somebody to buy for what would have been CHEAP in the USA, my conclusion is that the numbers just don't add up for a good investment. If I had that kind of money I could put it in an extremely safe investment such as a certificate of deposit and I bet I would make more on that than buying a big strip club. Not to mention I wouldn't have to WORK or worry about it.

I have not seen the books of these places, so perhaps there's lots of money exchanging hands that I don't see when I visit. I am basing my judgement on the number of customers inside and (if there are any) how much they appear to be spending.

I understood the original question to mean an actual brothel not a strip club, bar, massage parlor, etc. operating as a brothel.

It would be difficult to buy one unless you had some connections. By there very nature, being illegal, the entire operation is not widely publicized. Like any illegal operation, hours, licenses, etc are not a concern since if they shut you down it is not going to be for hour or license violations.

I still belief, if the original premises was a true brothel, it is not possible for a gringo to come to San Jose an open one and be successful.
