I don't know about New England being all that beatable. It's down to the "any given Sunday" theory there, I mean, at this point the odds are moving toward App-St beating Michigan, especially with their remaining schedule (Giants are the only team with a winning record and the only road game).

If you look at the numbers, Pittsburgh is not only a good team but a great matchup for New England. They can pound the ball with Parker and Davenport running behind Faneco & Co., they have a mobile quarmassageplanet.netack and they have a great pass defense. Against a team with 90-year-old middle linebackers and a playbook that's 90% pass, you'd think that would be a good matchup. Obviously, it was not.

The Eagles played them tough (and won me a few bucks) but watching that game I knew damn well the Birds were not going to pull it out. The Ravens game, same deal, they wanted to make a statement and like Reid clinging to a playoff spot Billick desperately needed that game to have any chance of keeping his job. But you could just feel it slipping away in the closing minutes.

I was down in Baltimore recently and had a chance to talk with some of the Ravens (they were at Ray Lewis's restaurant), man, a lot of people in town were giving them heavy shit after the Cincinnati game down there. Imagine how bad it will be when they lose to Miami! If the Phins have one chance, that's it, as Baltimore is busted. They looked as bad as any team I've seen against Indy and I didnt bother watching the second half.

I'm kind of a well-wisher of the Chargers but their pass protection is a joke and I think they are screwed if they have to play Jacksonville again. The Jags the one team I think might come out of the AFC as a fluke. Indy is too worn out on defense and my preseason pick, Pittsburgh, is too flaky for my liking.

the Pats are only 2 of 10 against the spread in thier last 10 games, while the Giants are 8 and 2.

the Giants have also won thier last 10 games on the road. (the super bowl is a road game) and the Patriots didn't cover the spread in thier last 2 Super Bowls.

The Giants should be able to put some points up against the old over-rated defense of the Patriots.

Take the Giants and the points............. Pats win, but don't cover!!!

Boy I sure hope I am wrong and am rooting for a close, entertaining game but take the Pats to cover the 13 points. Its becomming a trendy pick to take the Giants to cover (and even win outright) and that scares me. The Giants only have 3 players who were ever in a Super Bowl before and I fear that they are starting to read some of their press clippings and the next thing you know is that NE puts up 45 points and the game is over by halftime.

If I am wrong and you lose money please don't come after me and break my legs OK? LOL!!!!

JimDandy, thanks for keeping this post going, may be a side diversion from the sexy stuff. Now I have to change my statement, now the Chargers are surging, their defense and offense is clicking just at the right time. Timing is very imp nearing the post season.
What happened those darn Baltimore, a perfect example of over doing and over "emotioning" and throwing the game away. THough i dislike the Ravens because sometime they look like angry "Gorillas" in black ! But I must acknowledge they have the most fearsome defense. I would say in someways they are better than the Steelers in defnese, though Steelers are No 1 statistically. They say "Defense wins games", sorry, not against the Patriots ! Now suddenly most sports writers are rooting for the Steelers to beat the Patriots, and they just might do it. But then again, may be not.....

I agree that the Chargers are very erratic and dissapointing this year. They have the talent to beat any team in the league so its obviously the coaching that is the problem. Turner proved all those years with the Redskins that he's just not a good Head Coach. Good assistant, yes, but being a head coach is a different animal. Just ask Cam Cameron lol.
If Marty was still the coach they'd be right up there with the Pats.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I think the Patriots can be beat this year. The Eagles and the Ravens both had them on the ropes late in the game the last couple of weeks and both of those teams haven't had great years. The thing you have to do is be able to run on their defense to keep Brady and Co. off the field. easier said then done but its possible........ not a Cowboy fan but I think they'd give them a hell of a game in the SB in Arizona if it came down to those two teams. We'll see........(to be continued).....

Somehow sports fans seem to think an athlete has an obligation to play where he is drafted. I just don't see it.

If you are in any other field, you interview and accept work where both sides agree. I think it is nice that Elway and Manning let the teams know they had no intentions of playing for them. They were willing to wait a year or longer if necessary to work where they wanted to. Eli owes nothing to San Diego, and I think it worked out best for San Diego as well.

I like that Caliente on 8th but I haven't been down there for football Sunday, maybe crowded. When it comes to putting down money, I am all college hoops. The mid-majors are handicapped by retards, when I used to watch the A10, Ivy, MAC, etc all year I'd rake it in over the winter in Vegas.

I've enjoyed college football this year but the NFL makes me want to vomit. Just yesterday Washington and Chicago played a game ugly enough to make your eyes bleed. These are playoff contenders??? Worse yet it wasnt even one of the ten worst games I've seen this year, that Pitt-Miami game was an insult to pro football.

The shitty thing is that while the league has tried to develop all this "parity" (read: mediocre teams with zero continuity), the top tier of teams is pretty much the same three every single season.

I'm an Eagles fan, all I care about the rest of the year is beating New York and Dallas, after that I will turn my attention to hoop and hockey.

I'm a 49ers fan myself. With our overtime defeat of the Cardinals last week we broke an eight game losing streak. That makes us the ONLY team this season to break an eight game losing streak. GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!

Losing to the Pats is nothing to be ashamed of since they have one of the best records in the NFL over the last decade or so. Eli has played a few decent games this year and everybody (at least the NY fans) are ready to break out the champagne. The question is, when will this display of competitiveness wear off and the good ole Eli "I throw to the other team" magic resurface? Not to support the Pats but I would love to see him enter a meltdown phase in Phoenix so the camera can zoom in on his face with that slack jaw look.

JimDandy and others, and so the damn Patriots roll on, they make the other teams look like High school teams ! Mean while the erractic Chargers have much to fear about the surging Broncos. So much for talent but most blame goes to the QB - Phillip Rivers. Unless he does a Cutler like cutting act, the Chargers are going nowhere !
And coming back to the Patriots, I dont think anyone can beat them, Steelers seem to be capable but they are not consistent losing to the Jets last week. May be they should just cancel all the games and do a best of 5 games for a Sueforum.xxxowl between Patriots and best of the Rest NFL !

Not everyone on this forum is fan of Chargers, it is just the "designated" team for TJ/San Diego mongers and Chicas let say. The Chargers fans have a "dilemna", which one should they they hate more, Giants (because of Eli) or the Patriots (because of 2 consecutive play off losses)

I much prefer games outdoors in the elements too.
Sure Indy COULD win in NE but.......
That being said the game last week was pretty much even except that NE made plays at the end. I still say that if Indy had their best receiever (Harrison) they would have won.
God I hope someone, anyone beats the Pats. Steelers have a shot as well as the Giants who can really rush the passer. Even though they lost at least the Colts showed the rest of the league how they can slow down the vaunted Pats offense.
