lo, im just doing a itec course now, next week the teacher said models have to go topless and have everything massaged, was a shock to me, more of a shock to the girls.
But it does not bother at all, if it was a man naked or a lady i would not think anything of it - as long as you realise its your job and your a profecinal Therapist.

Doctores and nurses all see the same thing every day, so they are all ok with it as its there job as well. but Doctores and nurses, they dont take there cloths off, mmmmm yes there is a differance lol,

Yes the models have to be naked, well when i say models i mean the people on the course who are takeing part. The teacher has ask us to go topless but if they feel uncomftable with it they dont have to do it, its Holistic Sweedish massage we are doing. most of the girls are fine with it, its not a COMPULSERY THING, just a matter of if you wanted to do it or not.
The reason for this i think is if you are massageing a male, its very bennericial for him to have his chest done. When i was a model at another collage, i thought this was done all the time but only some collages do it. i was slightly dissapointed i did not get a Pec massage when i was getting a massage as i do waight lifting and was looking forwards to getting them worked on.

The London College of Massage also asks students to undress completely when receiving massage (although they are professionally draped with towels covering breasts and genitals, ie the therapist shouldn't see the client's breasts). Like Katherine and 'Healistic', I haven't heard of nudity being required on an ITEC course.

With regard to SpinalMusic's point about hygiene, I would hope that all therapists treating nude clients would use a fresh sheet of couch roll for each client! But I'm not sure whether SpinalMusic is aware that nudity is the 'norm' for receiving massage in many spas both in America and Europe. In any earlier posted I did point out that too often us "BRITS" with our Victorian attitudes too often associate nudity with sex .... perhaps one day we will not ?.

But take another slant on this ..... by being naked then there is nothing to hide, what you see is what you get ... no mystery .... no wondering what I would look like out of my massage uniform ..... by being naked the titillation of being clothed is removed ... if that makes sense ...

Besides the people who are my customers are normally from the naturist community and being naked in the company of other is ... natural ....

Ifind that a small number clients who are having a massage from the clothed therapists get the "wrong idea" just the same as they do with the naturist massage, some just do not know how to handle touch, they think that touch = sexual. most are able to just relax and enjoy the full mind and body stimulation that is a massage without relating it to sex

I have just been reading this thread and have to agree with whoever said that us brits still keep our victorian principles with us to this day. There is nothing wrong with nudity, even for a massage. Myself, I prefer to be massaged naked as I feel more relaxed that way. Adam and Eve were in the buff until they did wrong and then they became concious of their nudity. Perhaps it is because we are to concious of our own bodies.
When I did my I.T.E.C. course in London we were expected to strip off for the massage. We were of course covered by a towel for the massage. Some of the girls were a bit uncomfortable with this but by the end of the course we all took it in our stride. Incidentley we were taught to massage around the breasts which I dont think many schools teach today.

Seems to me we Brits do have 'body image' problems. We worry too much about what other people will think. I had a face and neck treatment at my beautician yesterday and took my bra off - far more comfortable than undoing and leaving it. She massaged my neck and shoulders and upper chest and I said I did not mind her going further. Towel was pulled down and she massaged the whole of my breast area as well. It was a lovely feeling and the only thing that made me keep the towels on the rest of me was that the room was not too warm. Having had massages done the 'proper' British way and some with me naked- I opt for naked every time. It feels wonderful to have no clothes digging in or twisting and no towels itching me.

There was an article in the latest Good Housekeeping magazine with 5 normal women shown naked - one showed her mastectomy, covering her other breast. They were women of various ages who had born children and were happy in their skins regardless of shape or size. Now that is how we should all have the confidence to be!

I know there are naturists out there who do like a good massage and like to be naked and undraped. However,a word of caution.This is another way for a bloke to ask if you do extras. I get them occasionally and if you ask a few questions you soon realise that what they want is you naked and extras!!

I think that your post above is insulting to Wendy and irrelevant. As I said in the other thread, I've had some weird requests and often want to say 'Look, I'm a 47 year old mother of two grown up children, etc. etc., but these people aren't normal and I think get a kick out of making the phone call - not sure all of them would take it any further.

But these dodgy calls have nothing to do with what the therapist looks like or where they advertise. These people are just plain weird.

But they are in the minority and no-one is saying that all men are like that, but when, as a therapist, you get a call from a man you have never spoken to before, you have to be alert and aware of possible dangers.

Incidentally, in my experience, very few women use a therapist they've found in the Yellow Pages - they would far rather have a recommendation.
