If you look to compare TJ to Costa Rica, you might not enjoy your stay as much. There is no doubt that CR is cheap, but then it is also a lot further away from the US. I'm sure you will find some things to like about TJ that you won't find in CR, and vice versa.

There are reviews of several escorts at tjamigos. I understand Kamala has retired, but there are others at that same agency that supposedly provide the same quality of service. But I don't know if any will go to your hotel. You would need to email the agency that question.

As for paying upfront or not, I've seen it both ways. Depends on the girl, and probably depends on the guy. I think street girls tend to demand it more often upfront than bargirls, but I've seen both ways for each. To me a good compromise if she insists too much is to show her the money and leave it where you both can see it until the session is over; however, that doesn't always work either. If it is that important to you, you should negotiate that before you go to the room. Looks like you already have a couple of responses from your tjamigos post. I'll post more later in the day if I have time. You might want to repost this as its own topic to separate it from this thread. It has sort of taken the original thread in a different direction. Some mongers might not read the thread because they are not interested in a meet up, which could hurt your chances of getting your questions answered.

I confess that I find the cop stories intimidating as well. Your best bet is probably to follow the advice posted on another thread about taking the Mexicoach bus to the last trolley stop. That way you will avoid the cops at the border. www.mexicoach.com

Your hotel price sounds high to me, but I'm no expert. Others should give their opinion on this.

Posting in multiple places is the best way to find your info. You'll learn plenty on tjamigos. You mentioned Kamala and Team Juanita. You'll find other reviews on the tjamigos website as well as pics in Sampson's photo album there. Pricey yes, unpredictable probably not.

You can socialize and learn the ropes in AB, CC or any number of places with other mongers. In fact, if you don't find a wingman first, you could probably introduce yourself to other mongers there and ask advice if need be.

My current plan is to go to the border by bus or whatever per your suggestions and then go to the Hotel Lucerna (1st choice) or Pueblo Amigo (2nd choice). That way I am not crossing the border every day. It looks like I can get a room at Lucerna or PA for around $90/night .. not that I want to be a big spender but it just sounds like a more comfortable way to get your feet wet than to stay at one of the places in Zona Norte. I did see something about Hacienda de Santiago being a decent place to stay in but I haven't found a web site for them.

Is there any problem with taking your luggage over the border? Some of the reports of the shakedown by the crooked cops at the bridge are abit alarming.

My ideal would be to meet in a bar with experienced fellows and leave from there. This is the norm in San Jose CR. You meet at happy hour 5pm in the Blue Marlin or the Sportsman Bar. You pick up a couple of wingmen and off you go to Zona, Panteras, Idem... or whatever. There doesn't seem to be a comparable place in TJ except maybe Adelitas or the CC but they seem to be more a place to pick up chicas directly and not a place to socialize and learn the ropes.

Is it possible/likely to pick up someone decent at AB, CC or somewhere else and take them bar to hotel Lucerna for a couple of hours for a cien. I don't like the sound of the 60 for 20 minute quickie in a marginal room. Also I never pay up front in CR is this going to be expected in TJ?

I investigated the MPs report and they sound expensive and not that enticing. Again from what I am reading the scene in San Jose CR is much better -- $25-40 for an hour of whatever with an attractive young spinner if you know where to go and who to see. The internet escorts also look pretty pricey and unpredictable. I did notice reviews of a Kamala at Team Juanita http://www.teamjuanitaonline.com who sounded interesting

You can also try the bus and trolley routes. Check the trip planner on the upper left side at www.sdcommute.com. Enter your terminal number to San Ysidro Trolley Station along with date and time. This route will require some walking from the trolley stop to the border crossing which isn't that far. Just don't bring a lot of luggage.

You mentioned MPs. If you haven't read about them on this and the tjamigos website, I suggest you read about them also. From what I have read, MPs are not recommended in TJ unless you are just looking for a legit massage. Any services more than that are overpriced. One that comes highly recommended is VivaMex Day Spa at 942 Avenida Revoluciَn between 3rd and 4th. Depending on how much you want to spend, you might also investigate the Internet escort scene. There are several listed on this and tjamigos. You can also do a search for Tijuana on the San Diego erotic services section of Craigslist.com. They all advertise the GFE with multiple pops for the session. Of course you can negotiate the same thing with any bar girl or street girl in the Zona Norte, but there are never guarantees on the quality. This subject is also discussed a lot on these websites.

As for transportation from the airport, I know there are buses, but I am not aware of ones that go direct to the border from the SD airport. Maybe if there is a next time, you might want to look at airline ticket prices direct to TJ airport. There are shuttles that depart from the taxi area. They might be cheaper than a regular cab. Coronado Livery or Cloud Nine come to mind. The Livery would be cheaper, but I would recommend calling them before you get here to see what their prices are or if they go to the last border exit. This would also help for your return trip. Cost could be around $45 one way. If anyone else has suggestions here, this is something he might need help with?

Once through the border entrance, you'll find plenty of taxis. They should not charge you more than $3-5 to get you to your hotel.

You'll need to allow extra time to get through the border customs line before you head for the airport on Monday. I've seen it take anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour.

I have been to Panama and thought that was great. I heard about Costa Rica, and I know I want to go there someday also. I'll let you know later in the week about the "meet up" on the 18th.

Well I did some investigating based on suggestions on this board and then looked at tjamigos.com. I have been to San Diego many many times friends use to live in PB and LaJ olla and so I am fairly familiar with that scene. My intent is a comparative shopping trip. I want to compare the TJ chica scene with the San Jose Costa Rica CR scene. Frankly I am pretty hooked on CR and I have already booked my next 2 trips.

After looking at the reviews, My current thinking is that I simply take a bus/cab to the border and then stay in a Jr Suite for 3 days at the Pueblo Amigo PA. There are apparently some clubs and MPs near the PA that are worth visiting. The cost of the PA is a little more than I wanted to spend but I will avoid car costs.

The ideal situation would be to hook up with some wingmen in the hotel lobby and then go from there. This is pretty easy to do in CR and one of the reasons I like it. No problem with a little advanced planning?

Again TJ is all new to me . So any suggestions / caveats will be appreciated. If this works out maybe we could schedule a second meeting once you guys get on the Mexico side Saturday PM.

I suggest you also post on the San Diego thread. It also comes down to what you are looking to do with your time in San Diego. If you are looking for an experience where you are mostly mongering in TJ and you just need a place to crash between sessions, then I think you might be better off finding a place in TJ to save the cash. There are supposedly nice places in TJ comparable to what you had in Costa Rica. You would need to do some research on this board or on the TJamigos.com board.

I think I know what you want, but there are many people more knowledgeable than I on that topic for TJ. I have read plenty on that on this board and on the tjamigos website. Make sure you select that you want to read posts "from the beginning" to do your research on this board.

If you are looking to do something in San Diego also, then you probably need a car to get around. San Diego is a big area. If you are looking for cheap but not too scary to stay, there are plenty of places in the 45-55 range. For example, a Day's Inn will cost you 159 for the 3 nights, not counting tax. I can suggest some from doing a basic Yahoo! yellow pages websearch. San Ysidro is right near the border and might suit your needs. There is even a Motel 6 there for $53/night, although there are comparable motels for less money nearby.

If you want to do much more in San Diego with an occasional short trip to TJ, then you might prefer to pay slightly more for a hotel/motel closer to downtown, or you can stay at a place in San Ysidro and drive the extra 20 minutes to do what you would like to do in San Diego. Hotel Circle area of Mission Valley has many hotels/motels also. I would only suggest those places if you plan to spend most of your time in San Diego doing things.

I was thinking of staying on the San Diego side and making day / night trips. But I don't know.

The setup in Costa Rica is great. Very nice rooms at around 50 (80 with Jacuzzi) and you bring the chicas to your nice room. TJ sound much more like a quick and (well I won't say dirty) out experience.
I would prefer a more extended GFE if possible. So maybe staying in a better hotel in the TJ area would be doable??? Never been there just don't know.

it depends on what kind of hotel/motel you're looking for. if you want a nice clean one it should cost maybe somewhere around 80 bucks or more. niceset area closest to tj to would be like downtown in the upscale area. if you go to the ghetto one would be like 40 bucks.

which hotel are you talking about? i've never spend a night there so i wouldn't be able to tell you. but there are a lot of good information on this section about everything you need to know including hotels.

you should rest on friday and come join the fun with us on sat. evenning. we still haven't figure out a place to meet up yet but like nevermore said, it'll be posted by the 16th of feb.

I will arrive at San Diego Airport by noon on Friday Jan 17th. I depart on the 20th. This is my 1st trip to TJ. I have been to Costa Rica 3 times since August.

I plan to stay at a moderate priced hotel in San Diego, take a car to the border and make trips by cab into TJ. Any suggestions for the hotel?

Since this is my first trip, I would like to link up with others. Anyone interested in guiding a middle age rookie to TJ? I am from Seattle. Please don't rub in stuff about Super Bowl officiating or Starbucks.
