I didn’t write lawsuit. Class action as in to group together to fight together.

"class action" implies lawsuit.

No owner is going to bring this much attention on their business. Nor will the majority of girls want this. I speak to an owner from a Toronto spa often. They have city council meetings for things that are going on in Toronto currently. Only a handful of owners show up and speak. The advocacy group Butterfly is often there but the impression they leave with some owners is they seem to want to push their own agenda and keep stuffing money in their pockets.

Wont be that quick, city works slow.

They will probably stay open, get a few more small fines.

But after another month get slapped with a big fine and a order to comply.

Then yeah they will have to close. Property owners will also get pressured to force them to close

I don’t think it’s legal to change license requirements for an already operating business if they went through a process when they first opened. That is if they possess a license already, the city changing classification with little or no notice should be challenged.
Then again I’m only speculating as I don’t have any info on any history or all the facts of what is actually going on.

lol where are you filing a class action lawsuit at? The municipal act allows any municipality to pass a by-law restricting any type of business done in their respective area. Also, don't even bother asking any members of council to support you because no one will do that. The owners' best bet is to do a deposition infront of Council and bringing in lobbyist to support their cause. I would petition to increase the number of body rub parlors and be ready to pay the higher business license fees.

Every spa is different and under different circumstances. I can’t speak to all the spas but just expect a lot of changes by April 1st.

Basically most of the spas here on MP are operating as body rubs, but I'd bet that zero-to-none have body rub licenses (those that do seem to have their own websites and advertising)

That means the spas are running with a license that doesn't allow these types of services (if they have a license at all of course), so they are in violation of their license

The city isn't changing the license requirements, they're just pointing out that the business isn't what's stated on the license they have so they need a new one

And I agree with a point made above - just because these places were asked to apply for a body rub license doesn't mean they'll all be granted one. Some if not all may be in trouble
