I agree, the relationship is simply to complex to be black and white, pimp and hoes. With my previous relationships with mexicans, I noticed that they do care about money, but I guess when you dont have any, you have to. But mexicans are also the most loyal girls in my opinion. Amigomio has a point, maybe times the behavior of a pimp vs padrote is different, as a padrote can be all encompassing, and many times wearing different hats of even being a real husband, boyfriend, and having an actual close relationship. ( the macho attitude is more embraced in Mexico than the US, where only pimps and right-wingers hold the view women are weak second class citizens)

The pimp in the states has a more superficial relationship based more on deceit than anything, and the hoe is part of the stable of girls. ( the hoes in the states will say he is my pimp, whereas when I asked SGs if they had padrotes, a few told they had a novio, which I took for being her padrote)

Although I understand the pimp hoe relationship can be strong, and take on the "WE"( pimp & hoe) team taking on the world.

I understand there are many there that believe that "ALL" prostitutes are controlled by someone, either a pimp, padrote, mamasum..etc etc.( I think we have a few on sex forums)

There is one thing about this whole pimp/patrote thing that always has me wondering:

Most of these chicas(SGs) are dirt poor with at least one child, and maybe also support their mother or other family members.

How does the padrote/pimp fit it, when traditionally pimps keep ALL the girls money she gets from prostitution. Do you think she is going to let a padrote keep all her money when her child is starving back home?( if its' a real pimp you can't allow the prostitute access to the money or you start losing control.)

If this padrote thing was so strong in Mexico, you would think it would also go on in the "escort" business. ( and somebody did once tell me that there was somebody out there keeping 100% of a escorts money! [I'm not sure who it is, but it's nobody that has been on these boards)

But if you ask me, almost all escorts keep most of the money, because Mexican girls care about money, and know how important money is, and just won't fall for the scams as much as the US hoes do.

CrazyEd, you and Dodgers don't get it that "pimps" in Mexico are not the same as "pimps" in the US.

Once again, the word "padrote" in Mexico is used as a synonym of "novio" or "viejo" (boyfriend or "man") in the derrogative sense by the people that regard the girls that have boyfriends as idiots who work for the guy, give him the money, while this guy could have 2 or 3 girls getting money for him.

Not the he controls a bunch of girls in all meaning of the word "padrote" as in pimp.

You will never get it cause you don't have the patience to sit and talk to the ho's about their issues and you will never understand that is a "macho" factor within the Mexican society, where man can dominate over the girls, the guy acting as a martyr that has been marginalized by society and needs all the help he can get.

There is a multitude of answers but two things come to mind:

1) they feel a need to get quick money

2) after they do they get addicted to making money daily.

This second one effects me as well. I would have a difficult time waiting two weeks between paychecks and I have struggled with that nearly my entire adult life. I got a taste of daily money in 1984.....and every time I worked again I struggled with waiting for paychecks...checking daily money is just as addictive as drugs I believe.

Thanks, Sampson, for the run down of the padrotes you have had contact with. One reads so much conflicting information about them. Many of the sources are just not to be believed because it is obvious they are just repeating what they have read and, of course, embellishing. I am sure that every time an American monger sees a Mexican man talking with an SG, he just assumes that he is her padrote. This is ridiculous. He could easily just be a potential customer. This is why I personally do not take almost all of what is written about SGs and their padrotes on these forums seriously.

What we need is a government-funded research grant! Anybody game? We would need extensive trips to la Zona for an extended period of time for exhaustive research. There has be some of that economic stimulus money left somewhere for us to get our hands on!

I know both padrotes with several and some with one.

One chica that was my puta several years ago, was locked into a room while the padrote tended his business. I sure would want to talk to a padrote one day. Yes they are nutso for their padrotes....sometimes so much that they won't even take overnight dates because they don't want to miss time with them.
