I still cannot believe that some of you are actually going to MP's and giving the receipts to your insurance companies, you guys are all leaving paper trails.

Guys, I guess we don't have the same ethic measure. I pay for insurance and I consider I have every right to be refunded for money spent with a therapist. Usually, only the therapeutic portion of the service is claimed, but sometimes the full amount is written down on the receipt.

As for leaving paper trails, I am not hiding to anyone (my insurance company, my employer and, yes, my wife) than I enjoy having a good massage.

And by the way, I never had an official receipt contested by the insurance company. As long as the therapist is still member of an acknowledged corporation, they have no choice but accept it.

I beg to differ.

Insurance companies are only obliged to pay for "therapeutic massage", and are well within their rights to refuse reimbursement for services rendered by MPs where their advertising proves that they are offering more than mere "therapeutic massage." To my personal knowledge, several of the largest insurance companies have even gone so far as to threaten massage associations (who are the ones that issue the receipt books to their members) that their accreditation with them will be in jeopardy unless they act to discipline offending MPs. I know at least one MP whose receipts were rejected and membership in her massage association canceled because of insurance company pressure.

What withdrawal of accreditation by an insurance company means is that not only will the receipts issued by the guilty MP be rejected, but so will receipts issued by all the members of that particular massage association (including the innocent ones) - in other words, punish the whole barrel for even one "rotten apple" (the ones we consider the "sweetest" of all), all because of their blatantly sexual advertising. Just take a look at some of the ads on craigslist and you'll immediately understand what I'm talking about.

I totally agree with mellonhead that insurance companies are basically in the business of not paying claims, and that their refusing to reimburse claims for massage by MPs who rely on sexually explicit advertising is a ploy used by them to deny payment. But it's a ploy that's becoming standard insurance company practice.

One last point - It's inevitable that that sweetie with the most gorgeous 36DDs that we all love, but who so proudly exposes them or steals photos of some other beauty's breasts to advertise on the Internet, will draw the attention of LE - something that none of us needs!

I was told by a masseuse that many massueses are issuing non-certified reciepts to clients to claim on their insurance for massage. Some were even reproduction association reciepts, they are easily done on a computer printer these days. To recieve a authorized reciept, the reciept book has to be issued by the association and it has to be numbered and have the certified masseuses member number on it.
Imagine how embarassing it would be to explain to your boss when they refuse the insurance claim and send back bogus reciepts!

It is not your boss or even your company that reimburse you for your medical expenses, it's the insurance company. Your boss has no business knowing what you claim from the insurance company.

When a claim is rejected, you realy do not know the path of the returned reciept will take, maybe to you bosses desk or possibly to some other employees desk at the place where you work.

When it is rejected by your insurance company, or once you have reach the $500.00 maximum under your collective insurance contract, use the receipt in your expenses report under the section "entertainment" (don't forget to add a name of one of your client in your report). BTW, under the insurance you can only claim the"therapeutic" part whereas under the "entertainment" you can claim/deduct 100% (including the options).

After all, isn't it an adult entertainment ?
