Royce, the mexican cartel enforcer, the Russian army guy, and the female sniper all get acquainted with each other (albeit very cautiously), and they're trying to figure out what's happening to them and where they are. They start walking to find the other parachutes, and then the Japanese samurai guy appears behind them unseen to the group. He's about to start walking to follow them but his shoes make too much sound in the mud, so he takes them off so that he can walk barefoot quietly.

My question is, why does he go to all that trouble? Why didn't he just say introduce himself? I mean, it's not like he didn't speak English (he does speak English later in the movie). I'm sure he realized that the four people all just met each other, so I think it would've been easy for him had he just spoken up and they would've accepted him into the group.
 
I guessed it as he didn't want to run in a pack yet since he just fell from the sky onto some terrain he has never been into before. So, people you never seen before+terrain you aren't use to= very suspicious attitude.
 
Because he's the archetype "silent, mysterious warrior" guy
