Agreed this thread has been really interesting and educational. All we get around here 99.99% of the time is the male perspective. I think it's very helpful and beneficial for everyone to get the perspective of the women we visit so often, especially for a lot of guys on here who really speak terribly and look down on the women they visit, which is ironic to me since we're the ones seeking the service. Since for obvious reasons these are the super frank conversations that are not practical for you to have with clients in person at the spa it's very nice of you to have them with all of us here. It's nice to be reminded the women we visit are fully rounded humans.
Question: if you ran your own spa what are some of the ways you would make it amazing for both your staff and your clients? This could be existing practices at your own spa or others, and / or your own ideas of how to make the industry better. What are some of the principles and practices you would apply to run a great spa?
Conversely: what are some practices and principles that make for a really terrible spa either for girls to work at or clients to visit?
You're welcome.
Off the top of my head...
Positive practices:
- Surveillance cameras in common areas
- ATM on site
- Clear, functioning website with up to date scheduling
- Mandated updated photos every six months for all the girls, all photos could stay active on the website, with most recent photos first, as long as they all resemble current appearance
- Zero tolerance policy for aggressive clients
- Zero tolerance policy for substance use
- Zero tolerance policy for drama/cattiness between the staff - one verbal warning and then you're gone
- Each girl keeps a room and can decorate/set up as desired - fill up each shift to room capacity, minus two rooms for just in case
- Three strike policy for tardiness for girls
- If clients are late for an appt and she has someone after you, we're not changing their start time
- Wifi throughout spa
- Five minute grace period for end of session, then you're getting knocked out
- Girls who aren't ready to work by start of shift don't get to work that day
- Inspection of girls at start of each shift - hair and makeup done, clean and appropriate outfit, hygiene
- 15 minutes between appts, no exceptions
- Spacious and comfortable back room for the girls with a television and kitchenette, with a smaller room with bunk beds for girls to nap in privacy if needed
- In house cleaning staff
- Option for auxiliary input for each room for music
- Small laundry baskets in each room to throw towels in throughout/end of sessions instead of towels ending up all over the place - tidier during sessions but also easier on the cleaners
- No phone policy for girls and clients in common areas
- More than one bathroom for client use
- More than one bathroom for staff use
- Girls showing up for work looking "ratchet" need to enter through the back door (Edit to add - ratchet before getting ready to work, meaning hair in messy bun, no makeup, sweatpants, flip flops, etc)
- Complaints addressed on a case by case basis
- Lawyer on retainer for issues re being recorded without consent in the room, being outed, etc
- 1 catered meal for staff per shift
- Contributions toward school/house/investment after x time of employment with y amount of clients seen per week
- Weekly yoga classes for girls
- Monthly class on investment and financial management
- Panic buttons in each room wired to some sort of pager system that managers are to keep on their person at all times
- Option for crypto payment
- Condos available for girls to rent for personal housing to avoid hassle of rental application process as a sex worker
- Edited to add - separate staff parking around back - and actually, I would make that the staff entrance as well, in general
