The history of the Park Hotel is far to long for a post on CRT. Try stopping by the New York Bar and meeting some of the old gringos there some afternoon. Find one who know some of the history, From Ollie North days :shock: to the Bill Bullock days :roll: , buy him a few beers and listen.

Word on the street was that the Park Hotel hosted live shows every weekend. Gringos would pay the cover and go inside; once the room was as full as it was going to get, the doors were locked and the show began. Usually girls on the bar, dildos, public displays of raunchy sexual behavior, a Larry David look-alike, face-sitting, rug-munching, and a door prize of a free BJ.

Rooms at the place were reportedly among the most tawdry and dirty in Latin America, but one could still trick upstairs with one of the lovelies, if one was brave enough.

When the hotel closed, the show briefly moved to other venues but was not successful. The most recent incarnation of the show I believe was at the Cosmopolitan Bar in the Hotel Amon Plaza (please correct me vets if I'm wrong about this).

The last report was that the hotel was purchased by a Chinese couple who are in the process of remodeling it. There are no plans for either working girls to be allowed into the bar or for live shows. : The remodeling of the hotel is reported to be first-rate.

Keep in mind that I learned these factoids from other gringos; I missed out on seeing/tasting the shows. :

but I am kind of bored cuz there are no new places

so when I listened that place was going 2 reopen I felt like happy

maybe I will need to wait 10 years and use the money I have saved then

to open my own Old Park Hotel ... :shock:

I remember "El Sancar".. was kind of a funny place... unfortunately it is clsoed now :x

go to the NYB about an hour after it opens, just sit and wait for the old timers to trickle in.

I have heard great stories there and gotten good tips on where to go from everything to buying boots, renting/buying apartments, where to meet the little darlings, where to eat, etc....

I love that place.

in the evening, they ring a bell when the shift changes and whatever drink you have in front of you, they match free.

I do not think a visit to San Jose is complete without a visit to the NYB.

Do not think it was ever held at the Amon Plaza but may have missed that. Far as I remember the first attempt to revive the show took place at the Hotel Europa, it then moved to Club Alcazar and then to a place just east of Alcazar. Think that was the last attempt at reincarnation of the Park Hotel show but maybe missed the Amon or some other venue.

Like Bill or hate him no one has been able to duplicate the show :

ID is correct - a guy who called himself "Don Carlos" (there's one for the "whatever happened to" books) ran a few shows out of the Europa Hotel in 2005 - we attended one around July of that year. The girls performing were mostly from Pantera Rosa - before it became well known here on the board. Pretty raunchy stuff, with all kinds of sex toys, whipped cream, etc. - with "Larry David" (not really him, but an incredible likeness) relishing in all of it.

Definitely an experience - but for me, once was enough. I think the illustrious Mr. Carlos only managed one or two more shows after that before giving up the ghost...

A while back, I ran across some pics of the Park Hotel inside the Old VIP Gallery. One pic that sticks in my mind...the "Free BJ raffle table" with a couple of lovelies selling tickets. You will need to become a CRT VIP in order to access the gallery, though.

Those girls in the photo are not selling tickets. Unfortunately the girls in the photo are selling themselves. The blond is not attractive although "Larry David" knew her and said she had a heart of gold.
The free BJ happened on Tuesdays when your drink receipt had a star on it.
