How long do I have to wait before I can introduce a new solid food to my 6 month old?

He has had 3 days worth of cereal, and I feel like he isn't really enjoying it.

I plan on making my own baby food and want to start with sweet potato, but I've heard that you are supposed to wait a little bit in between introducing new foods.

So how much longer should I give him cereal before I can switch to sweet potato?

3-5 days because an allergic reaction can take that long to show up. Taste some baby cereal, it's terrible. I wouldn't eat it eithercz.

My bub is 6 months n 3 wks n she eats EVERYTHING, we found toast is a favourite and anything that we eat. You can mash, bake, steam a potato for him yes =) Any other vegies can be added and mashed in with it also =) Good luck!

My son's doctor said no more than one new food a day when he was 9 months, but at 6 months, I'd wait 3 days to a week.

With baby food you should feed the same one for at least a week so their bodies adjust to it

AAP says 3 days, some say 5.

Personally I've never waited more than a day. So far neither of my girls have any food allergies beyond lactose intolerance.
If there is an allergy it will show up by then.

Just don't do it at night. You don't want to be up all night because your child had an allergic reaction.

Honestly at 6 mos you can skip the cereal and baby food and go straight to finger foods and cut up table foods.
