As was mentioned before, there are international agreements between countries that allow a citizen of one country to petition the other country to enforce a child support court order. It is my understanding that the immigration status of the chica is immaterial to the child support agreement. Again, a qualified legal consultation is in order if you find yourself in such a situation. Otherwise, we are just engaging in speculation and hearsay.

If the chica can find you then she can get a court order forcing you to take a DNA test. If the test is positive you will be ordered to pay child support. It's that simple.

The fact the mother was a "puta" is not a legal defense against having to pay child support in either Mexico or the US. The ONLY defense against paying child support is--in a timely manner--to prove you are not the father.

As I posted above, I know of cases in which both Mexicans living in Mexico and US citizens living in California have been ordered to pay child support for children (living in TJ) that they denied fathering. (A US citizen residing in Mexico or a Mexican citizen residing in California could be also be compelled to pay child support.)

Also, there are lots of ways you can be compelled to pay child support. In both Mexico and the US your wages can be garnished. In Mexico you can be put in jail for failure to pay child support. In California you can lose your passport, driver's license, etc. for failure to pay child support.

Google father's rights groups. I know there is a least one in San Diego; they should be able to provide you with information regarding US laws for free or on an ability to pay basis. There are lots of competent attorneys in Tijuana that can help you with these issues.

Thanks for your replies. I am currently in Mexico and have no access to US legal counsel. I tried to google this subject but have come up with nothing. I was always under the assumption that a john would not be held legally liable for the pregnancy of a hooker due to the culpability factor. From what I can tell, both of you are fairly certain that a john can be held financially responsible for a prostitute's child. Do you know of any case history to justify your positions?

As is often the case, things work differently in Mexico than in the U.S. In the US a woman enters the father's name on the birth certificate. In Mexico a man must sign the birth certificate. Or following a confirming DNA test the court can order his name placed on the birth certificate.

Only the results of designated labs are accepted by Mexican courts. The woman must pay all lab fees in advance when requesting the court to order a man to take a DNA test. Four years ago the fee was (approx.) US $600.00. Consequently not too many chicas take legal action to get the court to order a DNA test.

Mexican courts typically order child support of (approx.) US $200 to $300 per month. Many Mexican men (like many guys in the US) are dead beat dads. However, in Mexico a man can be put in prison for failure to pay child support--and he stays there until it's paid (or the woman relents). That's right: it's a debtor prison for dead beat dads in Mexico.

If the father is a US citizen a Mexican mother can often use US courts to determine paternity and obtain child support. It all depends on the state in which a man resides as there is a compact that many states have entered into with Mexico in this area. (Again, it is not a treaty between the US gov't and Mexico but an agreement--or whatever legal term is applicable--between individual states in the US and Mexico.) California is one of the states in which a Mexican mother can use the courts to determine paternity and collect child support.

If a man lives in California a savy chica can contact the local DA. The DA will find the man and get a court order from a California court ordering him to take a DNA test. If the DNA test is positive the chica can then use California courts to collect child support.

If a child has a parent who is a US citizen the child when he/she reaches the age of majority can obtain US citizenship. Or the child's guardian, while the child is a minor, can apply for US citizenship on behalf of the child. Either way citizenship is always granted--after all the necessary application forms are correctly submitted.

And it is my understanding that the courts have a decidedly different take on the situation. I am a stand-up guy that pays women to fuck me. I have had two girls on a monthly sueldo, off and on, for about eight months.
