The public services people, including those retired are so clueless. Now CRA is wAking up and sending out thousands of letters to people whose previous years income after expenses was less than $5000. BahAhaha. . So wtf did they think they should be getting $2K a month. The next group of fools to get a wake up call are those who will forgot that their CERB money is TAXABLE . What a gong show

I love these opinions that speak to the horrific long term effects on mental health from this pandemic. Many of our parents lived thru a time where they experienced hunger and homelessness in the Dirty 30's, destruction, genocide, rationing, and the loss of sons and spouses in WW2, and learning to crouch under the school desks in case of nuclear attack in the late 50's. During these event none of them had access to hundreds of televisionstations and streaming services, the internet, online shopping, cell phones, credit cards, massive government bailouts, or a host of other things that we all take for granted. Yet somehow they managed to go on to raise families and contribute to society.

However in today's world the fear of a toilet paper shortage, restaurant closures, some alone time, and temporary unemployment will apparently mentally devastate vast groups of the population.

You hit the nail on the head..while those receiving Trudeau's welfare checks bravely fought this covid war with their iPhones from under their 'work from home blankets ' .. or while relaxing in their beds, facing the frightening devastation of the Pandemic and the toilet paper shortages, entrepreneurs who had invested all their resources into building new things were shut down. Now Its clear why many of the service providers in the massage industry look at some of the people on these boards with no particular interest, other than the fees they supply. Deep within they know who the wussies are

While deluded Canadians will chase the 'resilient green economy', Russia is building its powerhouse to meet the hydrocarbon energy needs of a global population moving from 7.8 billion to over 9.5 billion over next few decades. The real facts are that Canada has no serious plans to grab the future, other than to rely on a Ponzi scheme to invite and defraud large numbers of relatively well off immigrants. As long as they need housing and food, and can pay for it, for a few years even without jobs, it deflects a housing collapse for several years. And in the meantime fools can keep on dreaming of a "resilient" green economy.

And NO, I am not making light of suicide just like I am NOT making light of an 85-year-old dying from COVID. As some suggested, MAYBE when it hits close to home they will clue in but I doubt it. They do not even care about family/friends, just their own ass.

Do you realize some of those 85-year-old people you’re talking about ,lots don’t wanna be alive and the only reason they are alive is because of modern day drugs! They’re laying in hospital beds rotting, literally rotting, like body Tissue just falling off , only kept alive by medicine while their body is dying but we’re keeping them alive, some residents even have stipulations in their agreements of no help, and if they’re choking let them choke, or if they’re having trouble breathing leave them alone.... so maybe some of their loved ones are being selfish by keeping these people alive years and years longer than they should! And all I’m saying old fart we’re not a communist country we don’t deserve to live like this , I don’t got a problem wearing masks or some restrictions on people in stores etc, but if you think that low of a percentage warrants living like a communist country and people losing jobs and money you’re out of your fucking mind, and can you just get back financially if you were financially destroyed? , How about if you’re in your 50s and lost everything including your home and every cent trying to make ends meet during this shit you’re telling me you can get set up for retirement again!!! shut your fucking mouth, and trust me this hasn’t affected me at all or my job I’m just talking about the people I’m watching going through this that are losing everything, I already lost everything once because of my kids slut druggie mom, and I know things can get better financially but it’s gonna be a little too late in the game for a lot of people, and what could be a 2-3 year hole in our children’s Education because they’re not getting nothing what they should be getting especially the last year education wise, I don’t know is it selfish to worry and putting our children first who are the future and the middle class that is the majority of the people that make the economy go round, or 80-90 year old person laying in a hospital bed that doesn’t wanna be there and the majority of them should’ve died years previous, and don’t sit here and say I don’t care about lives, my grandma‘s got cancer right now so i am concerned She might get it, but she’ll even tell you Don’t worry about us , worry about you guys and the children we’ve already lived a good life!

Even positive tests are bs, i’ve heard rate from the horses mouth that any tests that come up inconclusive or if somebody pulls a no-show for a test it Automatically gets put down as a positive case so even the case numbers are out to lunch, I hope after all this is done we report every single death from the flu! Every single death from pneumonia! And every single death from any kind of cold, and it would be all over the news just as much as it is now

Demand for oil based energy products will keep increasing, but at a decreasing rate, and massive leaps in supply means that pricing will be flat, probably forever. We might see some short term pricing shocks, but they won't bring the sustained $100/bbl oil that Alberta needs. We're a high cost producer that's being priced out of the market by low prices. With the US now able to meet over 100% of their internal demand and the push in Europe to decrease reliance, Alberta is not well positioned in terms of growth of oil exports.

I've never said we won't continue to use oil. What is the reality though is that commodity pricing ensures that Canada won't be printing money from oil production. There's too much supply and not enough demand, period.

This really started to hit in 2006. We had the pricing shock of the last boom, but anyone involved in developing long term pricing models could see that it wasn't sustainable. I pleaded with people I knew that were selling their houses and maxing their credit cards to get into the oilfield servicing industry to not, but they laughed at me and loudly exclaimed "this is the one, the boom that never ends." Ugh. We should have been hoarding the windfall profits from the booms starting in 1973 and investing in other long term economic strategies. Alberta should have a couple hundred billion in the bank, ready for this moment, when oil just isn't going to boom again. We should have been investing in developing solid state batteries, better solar tech, non-energy related tech, and on and on.

So, now here we are. Unable to economically cope with normal conditions and completely ill equipped to deal with the catastrophic pandemic.
