I had a client the other day who didn't speak a word of English! Her daughter rang me up to book the appointment and it didn't even cross my mind that she woldn't be able to speak English. I only found out when I turned up at her house.
I had to do the consultation with her daughter which made me feel a little awkward and her daughter remained present throughout the treatment. occasionally my client would speak to her daughter.
Besides not be able to speak English, she was very ill with a huge list of ailments. She had GP consent which was fine. Because of her medical condition, I gave a 30 minute treatment instead of a full hour (Indian Head Massage) and I used lighter pressure. She clearly didn't like the lighter pressure so I increased it a little but I didn't feel happy doing a deep massage due to her ailments. I didn't want to overload her body with more tocins than it already was! Although she felt some relaxation from it she didn't really enjoy the treatment as it wasn't how she wanted it (deep). As she could't speak English she didn't understand why I was doing it the way I was. I did explain to her daughter but it didn't seem to go in!
I don't know whether they wll book another appoinment or not but does any one have any advice for me? Anyone else had a client who didn't speak English?
