Caracalla’s Tenant Screening Standard, the first in Canada, was enacted in 2022.
The Standard was created to protect landlords’ business interest, with total disregard for the Ontario's Human Rights Code, which prohibits actions that discriminate against people based on a protected ground such as: Age / Ancestry, colour, race / Citizenship / Ethnic origin / Place of origin / Creed / Disability / Family status / Marital status (including single status) / Gender identity, gender expression / Receipt of public assistance (in housing only) / Record of offences (in employment only) / Sex (including pregnancy and breastfeeding) / Sexual orientation.
Under the Screening Standard, the following groups’ applications will be automatically denied:
Africans
Indians
Muslims
People with disabilities
People with no jobs
People with low credit score
Single mothers with or without boyfriend
Minimum wage nobodies in their 40s/50s
Anyone who lies on the application
Anyone who gives off bad vibes
And don’t forget to trust your gut!!!
