AMP parking lots

I was just wondering, since on my first AMP visit I opted for 7th Heaven instead of the AMPs off of Emerald because 7th was more discreet and off the beaten path. I was wondering what are the parking lot "rules" I guess? For instance I'm too paranoid to park in the Smile lot since I know LE can run plates. Is their some sort of parking lot etiquette? Don't park if there is a car already parked in the lot of an AMP, or am I being too paranoid?

I'd say you're being a bit paranoid...but then again, I don't normally visit AMPs that are "stand alone" businesses. I like to park in front of businesses that are clearly not AMPs and then walk over to the location. This hasn't always worked out. The last AMP I visited was the only place open on the day I visited. When I visited 7th, I decided to go somewhere else because I found LE present in the area during my standard area recon.

I think you'd be fine no matter what...but there's always a degree of risk.

hell i tailgate in the amp lots on game day. fire up the grill... throw on a few brats..call and make an early appointment and enjoy a tasty beverage waiting on my appointment. then back to the lot to listen to the game.

Good question, easy.

Being a bit paranoid is probably not a problem. It keeps you aware of your surroundings. If someone was going to "run your plates" no amp would be immune, but that is at best not a common issue in my opinion. It is not illegal to enter a legal business establishment. This assumes you do not have any outstanding warrants. If LE did check plates that would be the most likely reason.

You do have some other possibilities if you are significantly concerned. At Smile, park in the large space South of the amps - still inside the fence, but not in an overly obvious place. Or maybe you could park across the street at the Karaoke place. I've never done that but it should be OK.

At Hawaii, park at Dennies and walk.

At 7th, just park a few spots down- it would be impossible to know for sure which business you are visiting.

Oceanside is even easier with that huge parking lot. And something similar should work for any amp.

That should give you an idea. I am not aware of any of the serious amp posters reviewing an issue related to parking at an amp other than one or two very, very occasional reviews of a car breakin. But personal experience tells me you could probably visit amps fror 25 years without having that happen. But.... it is always a possibilty - no matter how unlikely.

Being smart and aware of your surroundings is not paranoid at all. You are going into a illegal operation after all.

Heck the cops raided The St. James here in Houston on a November evening and lined all the customers up and ran their names for warrants. This is a strip club for gods sake!!!

I don't even hang out at the spa when I am in town. It is just not worth the risk!! NEVER underestimate the lowest levels at which LE will go to make a case. They are a rotten group and can not be trusted PERIOD!!!!

Hanging out at the country clubs is more fun anyway.

You have to use your own judgement, a lot of it depends on the policeman. You may have a hard nose cop that is going to drill you over and over and check for warrants. Another policeman may not even look at you at all. Its rare i ever park in front of an amp. I'm not willing to be the one that gets the wrong policemen. I went to jasmine's last night with a friend, as we turned the corner to pull into jasmine's their were two undercover police cars parked in the street. People do worry about police, because prostitution is illegal, when you have done this hobby for so long, you can figure what are cops, when you go to an amp looking for police cars before you go in, you may not see any, but amps are watched at night about 50% of the time. Some people in the hobby has this i will never get busted attitude, they usually end up on billboards and divorce court. Just ask yourself what you feel is a safe place to park, and don't be stupid and think it could never happen to you.

In a way, I view the parking scenario as a catch-22. For example, if you park at the bowling alley or in front of another business and walk over to 7th, you still have to walk to/from the establishment and your vehicle.

The idea of proper parking etiquette does decrease the probability of a drive-by look-up on your license plate. It doesn't prevent the pull over if he sees you enter/leave the establish and he wants to speak with you.

I've never been so worried about parking as I am about being seen actually walking in and out. I try to be as stealth as possible so I prefer my car be close for a quick get away! I figure being parked outside is not conclusive evidence I went in, let alone what might or might not have happened while I was in there. I hope that is not naive. I always check the area upon arriving though.

I was at 7th this week and noticed small signs scattered about the parking lot stating no club parking overflowing into the other available spaces in front of other businesses, or mostly vacant store fronts.

I've never done an AMP (yet), but I would be more concerned about my car getting ripped off before I worry about LE.

And let me ask this though it's not about parking, but if LE busted a amp, and caught me just having a massage, is there any reason I'd be in trouble if no one else was caught in a compromising postion?

Interesting MR. How could you tell so easily that they were undercover police cars?

And what information do you have to indicate the 50% number? In a way that would suggest car break-ins at amps are almost impossible.

Now back to this parking thing.

I don't want to tempt fate, but I have never had a problem with parking. Granted, I used to drive an old P/U that wasn't an attention getter. Now that I drive a newer vehicle, I tend to be a little more cautious.

Even when I drove my clunker, I always made a pass by the place (indy's also) just to scope it out and see if anything was out of place. Had a couple of occasions where the spidey sense started tingling and I used discretion, much to lil' K's disappointment.

My paranoia lays in the opposite direction. Whenever I contemplate parking in front of another business, or down the street somewhere, I'm always afraid that when I return, my car will have been towed. Probably unreasonable worry, but worrisome nevertheless.

As always, we all know the risks involved and we are all willing to accept those risks, but as some have said, healthy paranoia keeps your senses sharp and occasionally forces you to alter your plans. Listen to your inner voice, especially when all the blood has drained from the big head.

It's only a game folks, and unnecessary risks are foolish.

SL, Try going to the amps every friday and saturday night, when you see the same white car with 2 men sitting in it, parked around the corner where the amps are in clear view and they are not unless you drive by them, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

LKF my last visit to 7th was about 3 months ago and don't recall seeing these signs, they were obviously made up to put club patron's on notice they are not welcome to park any where else in the complex and not sure if towing will be implemented. So be sure to park in front of 7th.
