Question Threats from messaging someone on Leolist.

I sent out some test messages to some girls on Leolist, checking out what they are offering..

I got some threatening text messages.

This is the second time this has happened, and I am not messaging the same #'s.

This time they are threatening me from a # 9299773433, a New York #. (previous time was 9293831905)

Now I am not worried, as this s a burner # for me. It did happened to belong to someone else before.

The messages I got:

hey, I'm contacting you to re solve this problem, you were visiting the page, LEOLIST and you were wasting my girls' time, Keep calm and pay me the fine

since I have your address and everyone in your family also ,pay me my money yes or no

I look forward to your message or call before proceeding.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Last time I toyed with them telling to come and get me (I am currently not in Canada at the moment, and can conceal carry where I am).

This time I am trying to play scared and see what they say and do..

This is a known scam. If you're using a burner phone they probably have nothing on you. If you push back in any way they won't respond. If you're concerned, ask for then to provide some minimal info about yourself, i.e. your first name or what city you live in. I doubt they can.

I am not worried, just couldn't find anything here on the forum. This is why I use a burner phone..

I did ask them last time and they never got back, but they did reach me on the phone, guy was screaming like a mad man.

They haven't responded yet, I said to them I was scared and how much do they want??

I mentioned this before on another thread. They threatened to harm me and my family, and they don't know a thing about me. I simply texted the number on the leolist ad, and they claimed I wasted the girl's time. What a joke. I threatened them back by saying I'm an undercover cop, taking part in a sting operation. I said thanks for texting me. You're going to be arrested and charged.

These are the same kind of people that are doing the "Grandma, I got in trouble, and I need bail money" phone calls.

They should say, "sorry sonny, you're on your own. Let this be a lesson to you."

Don't. The person sending you these messages is working in some sweatshop in China who's only job is to scam you and they are working a dozen scams at once.

If you engage it verifies your number is active and you just get passed around to various other potential scammers and it could be years before you stop getting spammy phone calls and text messages. Just block and ignore and don't engage.
