Zona on Off Days

You are lucky WC ! you get an extra hour. The check out is 1 pm in most of the hotels I have been in zona including Cascadas, La Tropa, Hacienda

what time is the check-in and check out for these hotels? more concern about the check out, is it around noon time same as in the us?

If you would like to stay in the middle of the action the Hacienda del Santiago is right across from La Tropa and is about $45 a night. Probably the nicest hotel in the zona (but the rooms are kind of like a 2nd rate US motel) and no hassles with bringing girls to your room.

The Leyva next to CC is cheaper, but pretty shabby. A basic place to stay and very chica friendly. Less than $30 a night.

I've stayed in the Leyva and HDS with no problems.

The Hotel Nelson is right on the corner near the Arch, but I've heard it is noisy and a few people have gotten scammed there. I can't recommend it.

The Hotel Espana has gotten good reviews from mongers, I think it is about $50 on Revo just north of 4th street. Each room has AC. Short stroll to the Zona. I haven't stayed there.

I usually go Tuesday afternoon-Wednesday afternoon and try to get three sessions in during my 2-day trip. I can wander (a little) farther during the day. I have a few favorite restaurants I visit in between zona trips. I like the light crowds during the week. Most of the time I stay in San Ysidro tuesday night, but I have stayed in TJ. I am still looking for a decent place to stay overnight in TJ if anyone has suggestions. Anything $40 to $50 per night that has normal motel amentities?

Echoing others, I'd like to say that Mondays and Tuesdays during the afternoons are my favorite times. The selection is fine. And the pedestrian border wait back to the States is normally not more than 20 to 40 minutes. (Although sometimes it is much longer.)

When I first started going to Tijuana I'd hear that from cab drivers. It's been a long time since I last heard that. ( I don't know why either, but I suppose cabies are good at figuring out who is new to TJ and don't play as many "games" on "regulars.")

Also a lot of bar girls and SGs work six days a week, so they don't really get two days off.

Monday and Tuesday may be slower than other days, but that doesn't mean they aren't profitable. They are. Especially since overhead is minimal; most people make their living off tips leaving very few expensses for the bars to pay.

Could you imagine the lost revenue?...Some of these bars only close the doors to mop the floors, and even then they don't make the clients leave.

Taxi drivers do from time to time try to sell you on the thought that Zona Norte is shut down...like for a murder investigation, etc...however to my knowledge it has always been to get a commission from a South Rev bar...

Guys, Thanks for your posts ! Now let me ask, why doesnt the Zona close on Mon/Tue and make it a 5 day week ? That way everyone will work on all days and the bars will get time to recover, do a full cleaning and fumigation, and remove all the stains and spots Seriously, did they ever consider have a zona shutdown day(s) ?

Just about the only time I go to the zona is on off days. I don't like the weekend crowds. But really any day you go to TJ is a good mongering day. If I had to pick the worst days they would be Monday and Tuesday, because if they girls are going to pick two days off they usually will try to pick these days. But then again, many girls work 6 days a week, so you can always find sometime. Since I have to go back to work on Mondays , it's also one of the days you'll see in in TJ. I say fuck work, I'm going to TJ! I can always find something, although even AB is a little slow on even Monday night. And the alley with the SGs are just seem a little slower, but not much.

My favorite day is Thursdays, as most of the girls are in bars getting ready for the weekend, but without the weekend crowds, same thing with Sunday, as the bars are packed with girls until at least 1:00Am in the morning, and then it dies down a little.

However, Revolution on weekdays is dead, except for a few South REVO bars, and during the day time in the zona is pretty dead too, with the exception being AB and Hong Kong. Tropical and LC will pickup at night.

I like the ZN during the week. It doesn't have as many mongers and often the chicas will deal. Monday probably has the worst selection as many chicas take Monday off. As noted, you'll often see the same mongers in the ZN during the week; they tend to be serious, experienced vets.

As far as selection goes: you'll find pleanty of chicas. Both in the Alley and the bars.

Well you won't find me in AB too much. I was in the Zona Norte, but only would visit briefly if I had a chica working in there. You probably would find me more often on the corner of Coahuila and Constitution talking to friends.

Mon-Thur during day day you see alot of mexicans at AB.There are times that I am the only person in there.I go about 3to4 times a week.About 5pm is when I start seeing alot of americans start coming in.CC during the day I never see any women, but I see alot of guys drinking there all mexicans.{I also asuming that all the mexicans I see are mexicans natonals no from the states.}

I believe that the place is driven by the people visiting. In 2002 and 2003 I was in the Zona almost daily and I kept seeing the same guys each day.

In 2003 you if were at AB you probly seen me there.{I was there starting in june everyday excpet weekends.}I never see the same americans but I do see the same locals.

I'm often a weekday daytime visitor. From what I have seen you will find mostly Mexicans in HK and some of the other clubs that cater to locals at those times. CC is often empty and Tropical is pretty light too. I do see a fair amount of gabachos, like Sampson noted, these are regulars, hardcore mongers like me. On a Saturday night for example you will see more Americans, more tourists (Asian) and more everything.

I guess to break it down I would say 25% of the customers in HK are non-locals (of all races) during these off times, as opposed to 70%+ on a Saturday night. These are just my best guesses, but based on my observations.

There are plenty of Daytime SGs, good Bar girls are a little harder to find before six.

Well, well, even before I start out this does not look like a very interesting topic, but I will go ahead anyway! I was wondering how the zona looks on say Mon to Thursday, whats the bar and SG situation. Also what kind of mongers go there, I guess are there many local TJ population who goes there or does the Zona depend mostly on San Diego and So Cal areas. What percent of the customer base is made up of Amercans crossing into the border vs locals. For reasons of simplicity lets say just the main Zona bars and SG street.
