Why do women try to introduce former friends with benefits as " a guy they dated"?

I noticed this yet again when out with a group of friends....a female friend referred to a guy she used to bang this way, even though there was no semblence of a relationship besides sex.

Lick Me - no just a friend....but she was out with the guy she is currently dating and mislead him that way. Don't sweat it though: we keep the guy code and told him what was up when the girls went to the bathroom. Now he can deal with the situation as he sees fit from a position of knowledge, not being decieved!
