Its fine for her to have peanut butter now. She is over a year old.Personally I love natural because it is a bit healthier in terms of oils. But that is a personal choice. Any allergy would show quickly. In terms of a mild reaction such as a rash to severe such as trouble breathing. Severe reactions are not super common despite what you may hear on the news.Holding off things such as peanuts(though peanuts are not actually a nut) does not reduce chances of allergies. It may in fact increase it. You could try giving her PB&J or crackers with a little peanut butter. I would not give it to her just by itself as it is sticky and gooey and can be hard for her to swallow. Jelly helps it go down better, even plain bread or crackers will do.
The AAP has actually change their stance on nuts and common allergens
In January 2008, the American Academy of Pediatrics reversed its stance on delaying the introduction of common allergens like dairy, eggs, and nuts, stating that there was "no current convincing evidence that delaying their introduction beyond [the age of four to six months] has a significant protective effect on the development of atopic disease."
This means that, contrary to earlier recommendations, it is now the AAP's stance that dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and seafood are safe to introduce to your baby at the same time you introduce other foods. As always, however, your allergist or pediatrician is the best source for specific recommendations for your family.
