What's a good "pumpable" cream?

I am looking for a good quality cream that is not so thick that it can't be pumped from the bottle. I like the convenience of a pump bottle which I put in my holster while massaging.

I've been using gels but I think I'd like to try a cream. What do you use, and why do you like it?

I use Biotone Herbal Select and it pumps fine. I am going to try the cream from the site Moogie mentioned in this thread http://www.massageplanet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=84643#84643

I am getting a bit fed up with Biotone personally, so I am looking for a different cream.

I just spoke with Kyle from Sacred Earth Botanicals and asked where I could purchase their products. He explained, as in Moogie's other post, that they want to give their distributors the opportunity to build their business and offered a few locations for me.

In the meantime, he is sending out some samples for me to try.

I order the pump from biotone - it has the blue label. They work for quite a while. I had MANY issues with the herbal select pump and I am very happy with the "blue label kind".

Another thing you can do, if still having trouble finding a cream you can use through a smaller pump, is mix cream and lotion together in your bottle.

Also, if you wash your bottles and pumps out at the end of each day, then they should last you a long time. I ordered my 8oz pumps from Biotone (but they are the same you could order from any company) and they have lasted for many years. I have six bottle/pumps so there is enough to use a new one each day--rinse the one I used for that day and wash all of them at the end of the week.

i think it was the biotone pump. i've recently gotten the smaller lotus touch pump and that organic naturals cream is just perfect. finally.

i have found it to be easier to just portion out the creams into 1 oz plastic containers.. the kind you get with your takeout for sauces.

Soma Silk

I'm really liking the Soma Silk creme. It's thick and great for deep tissue work. It pumps fine, but you have to have a jar with pump, not the bottle. I think the jar has a wider straw for the creme to pump through. Massagewarehouse sells a 6 or 8 oz jar with pump and you can find a holster to hold it. In fact, I have a holster that will hold a bottle and a jar, but I find I'm only ever using the jar now. The only thing I don't like it for is hot stone massage where I need a much thinner lotion or even oil.

I don't use a holster so I'm not 100% sure about cream in the smaller pumps. But ...

I use all Pure Pro Products and find their lotions and creams to be wonderful. I know the lotion comes in a smaller pump that fits in a holster. The cream can be ordered with the larger pump but I don't think it would work in the smaller ... hmm ... I'll have to ask Dianna ...

I recently tried the Lotus Touch gel and I liked it. In the last few days I've gone back to Biotone Dual Purpose cream. I like the consistency and the fact that you don't have to keep applying, plus it isn't greasy. It's always a challenge to try and determine how much product to use for your intended area so as to not have to wipe the client down with a towel when you're done.

I think Pure Pro used to have one. But I had many conversations about how hygienic this method is. One should not be 'double dipping' into a jar during a treatment unless that jar only contains enough cream for that treatment and will be washed after the session. Creams should be scooped out of a jar with a clean spoon or wooden stick, not using one's fingers. I can't imagine how this would be possible with a jar holster.

my jar has a pump, and I hold the whole thing in my holster. So when I want some creme, I just pump some out into my hand, and there's no double-dipping. It's basically the same process as with oil or lotion, it's just a jar instead. Not sure where I got my holster, but if you do an internet search for "massage jar holster" or "massage creme jar holster," I'm sure you'll be able to find one.

I really like the Soothing Touch jojoba lotion - unscented is what I use - I have no trouble pumping it, can use it for aromatherapy massages and it blends well with my oils, can use it for deep tissue becuase a little will go a long way, or use a bit more for general Swedish massage....I found it rather versitile compared to others I've tried.

Holsters for large pump jars

This company offers a holster that holds up to a 3" diameter bottle that can accommodate the large cream pump offered by Sacred Earth Botanicals, Pure Pro and Biotone. You have to get the "bare essentials holster" and it will fit these larger containers. Plus you can add an insulating and heating unit later to heat regular size pump bottles while you wear the holster. The whole system is modular, so you can add pieces at different times.
