What organized religion first introduced the idea that man could have eternal life?

This religion created gods who ruled over the afterlife and the places where dead humans would go after death.

Has anything changed in over 5000 years of recorded history? Or is religion still pedaling the same stories?

Probably the first were the Egyptians, they are the oldest civilization on earth. there may have been some obscure tribes that roamed the earth prior to the Egyptians but I don't think they were sophisticated enough to have developed the after life concept. The only other thought would maybe be the Inca?

Still peddling the same old stories. I can't belive religion is still around today, people haven't got advanced enough thought processes to consider a realistic and rational approach to our existance. They can believe they will go up to fairyland when they die, but we die and our life ends, then we rot and decompose into mineral compounds.

The most primitive religions most likely began this. As they evolved the sophistication grew and religions used fear to cause people to do as they liked. But eternal life is the entire reason for religion. What comes after this? Will we lose consciousness when we die? Let's add a fairy tale saying no!
