What is the best way to introduce my new puppy to my 3 year old cat?

I'm getting a puppy in three weeks, and I would just like to hear some things that worked really well for other people. Just as a little background.. I adopted my cat last year, and she seems to be pretty okay with dogs from our vet trip experiences. She definitely isn't terrified of them, but seems to have a healthy curiosity. My new puppy has grown up around cats and kittens, so I'm not really worried how she is going to handle my cat.

i have recently purchased a puppy as well and I own three cats when i brought him home from the shelter i left him in his cage in a not so busy area of the house so my cats could come as the please and smell him. Also its best to leave your new dog in the cage for an hour or so when you get him home because you want the new dog to know that that house is the cats territory.

I would suggest putting her in an area alone where the cats can smell her but not get pounced as puppies are prone to do! whenever introducing new animals in my house I always put the new animal in the bathroom duel purpose of if they aren't properly potty trained its easy to clean up and they can smell the other animals in the house and the other animals can peak under the door.

just get them use to each other by letting them smell the scent of one anothers blankets or beds and maybe build up to letting them play toghether.
