Heya. The question pretty much sums it up, but I'm looking for some bands that will introduce my special lady to the music I like without showing her anything too heavy/progressive and ensuring we will be perpetually listening to Taylor Swift in our time together (I'll make the effort to appreciate her favorite music, but some reciprocation would be welcome).
I've got an eclectic taste, but generally I enjoy punk (not pop punk so much, things like Social Distortion, Black Flag, Dead Kennedy's, Against Me!, etc) and alternative (Tool, Nirvana, Chili Peppers, etc) and occasionally some folk based stuff.
I would think some softer alternative would be the way to start and gradually getting into the heavier/more complex. I would have to think introducing her to my musical taste with tool, or something like Baby I'm an Anarchist would just make prejudiced against it.
These are a few of the tracks I had in mind:
Orestes - APC
Swing Life Away, Roadside, The Approaching Curve, etc - Rise Against
Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore: Vede Mecum - Mars Volta (actually, I'm not sure about this one, just the least weird Mars Volta track I could think of)
Fatally Yours
Blue in the Face, Help Me -Alk3
Cavalier Eternal - Against Me!
Hoping some people could point me in the right direction here, lest I be subject to endless hours of pop/country. Thanks.
