What age did you introduce the sippy cup to your child?

My son is 7 months and I have 3 different kinds of sippy cups. I have one with the hard plastic mouth piece with the 3 holes in it, one with a straw and one with a well it looks like a bottle nipple. So far he hasn't done good with any of them. Do you think it is because he is still to young or because I am just not doing something right. I am wanting him off the bottle by age one so I know I still have time, just curious if there is maybe a different brand I should try or just wait a little bit longer. Also would it be a good idea to get one that is not spill proof until he gets the hang of it and then get the spill proof ones? Anyone got any good suggestions?

It takes some time. You can't go back and forth. Pick one and stick to it. If he is thirsty enough he will figure it out. The straw ones are best I think because once they get that they can drink out of any cup with a straw, like at restaurants. We use the nub brand. We started at 8 months with a cup so your not too early. The nub brand actually has the age groups on the different stages. Spill proof is always best, especially since they are still unstable at that age. Anything with an internal valve only breed bacteria just a consideration.

start easily they will noticed the dffernce!
start with the one thats like a bottle the soft one!! after yu notice that
they are getting the hang of it and they can hold the bottle by them selfs!
without no help give them the hard one and after the one with a straw!!
i strted my daughter like this and now shes about to be a year and shes with the straws
but every child is diferesnt dont pressure him! he will get the hang of it!!

6 months. He was fully on sippie cups by 10 months.
Some say its early. IDK, He was my first child and while pregnant I had a friend who was trying to take a bottle from her 3 yr old. It scared the poop outta me.
I started with the soft silicone spout ones that are pretty much bottles, only in a different shape. Then slowly transitioned to hard spouts by 1 yr. My son never had trouble with the spill proof ones. They are probably better because you have to suck on them, just like a bottle.

Some people will say the sippie is nothing more than a glorified bottle thought. Eh, who cares? I don't have to worry about spills and he doesn't take it to bed.

I have lots, all different kinds. Started at 4 months. I have one cup that's like the others but it's not a plastic mouth piece. It's actually a soft rubber, similar to the bottle teats but not exactly like one. The shape is completely different. That was just a cheap one I picked up, not a brand. Have a look around. It's nothing to do with what you're doing. Some babies take to it easier than others. He's learning.
