it is illegal to smoke marijuana in public but if you want to smoke a cigarette in a coffee shop ask if there's a smoker's area first.
Le meridien is about 20 minutes(if you walk briskly) and 30 minutes(if you walk leisurely) from the RLD.You can also take the metro form Central Station(right opposite the Meridien) to Rogier but you'll have to change at Arts-Loi.

1.It's a 30 minute train ride
2.Le Meridien is not near the RLD.The nearest hotels(about a 5 minute walk from the RLD) are the Sheraton Brussels,Hilton Brussels City,Crowne Plaza Brussels and President World Trade Centre.
3.Are you referring to ordinary,run of the mill coffee shops or "special coffee shops" like in Amsterdam where it's legal to smoke a joint?

i have some family shit to do in antwerp and wont be able to get away to see the scene so i have decided to fly into BRU and spend a day there first and then travel to antwerp.

few questions:
1 how far is it by train from brussels to antwerp?
2 are there any good hotels near the RLD? i was thinking of the le meridien but dont know where it is in relation to the RLD
3 are there any coffee shops in brussels like amsterdam?
