I use the parking there, but it is safe in the sense that it is guarded, but it is far from safe from damage. A friend of mine card got side-swiped on the third floor and the owners took no responsibility and wouldn't even give him free parking.

For a guy like me who drives to TJ, hotel Leyva right next to CC is very convenient in terms of location and cost. The parking is free so it saves a lot of money for early arrival on Friday or Saturday. They also have good security so no need to worry about your car's safety. The only thing is that the rooms are so crappy. I would say that it's not a whole lot better than those nasty looking quicky places that you go to with your $20 SG's. They charge 30 with TV and 25 without. Considering the local economy and quality of the rooms there, it's way overpriced IMO. One other good thing is, they seem to be okay if you take a girl to your room. There is no 'fee' that you pay for taking a girl to your room.

I don't feel I'm trashing Burt, the part about what's he is doing over there is a JOKE. I'm having a honest disagrement with Burt, about if Article 123 [ 1st street is safe or not? There are many who believe like Burt that' Articule 123 is so dangerous that you should never walk it alone at night, some people are so scared they take a taxi from 2nd street and Revolution to the Zona. { that's $5 dollars for two blocks!}

I think there is some confusion about the street too, it's a very long street, but we are only concerned with one block of Article 123, that's over by Revolution to Constitution on the way to the zona. That's very very safe, it's almost an extention of Revloution, tons of people and cars on the street.. A mugger would have to be insane to rob you out in the open like that. It's also home to Rio Verde, packed local bar Burt talks about. I would not recommend it to none Spanish speaking gringos. You'll stand out like a sore thumb here, even if you speak SPANISH, but I lOVE the place, and the local women, semi -pro putas. You also have dives like Jack's bar, and the gay and tranny bars on the street that goes at an angle in the area.( I once popped my head in the place, and they had some 'Sailor' dude dancing for the guys.) A few tranny bars too. PERFECTLY SAFE AREA.

Now as you travel down Article 123 pass Constitution and Neno Heros, it's a little dark and deserted. Here you'll see cheap SGs, 100 pesos to fuck these girls, ( $10 if your lucky, for sure $15 dollars)

Keep going down Article 123 to F Martinez you're entering 'Tranny terrority.' They stand outside Noa Noa bar and the corner, waving at cars. Still some what safe, but lots of cop cars, the cops seem to be the real danger, not the rateros. Keep going to Mutualismo St, and look towards your left, and more Trannies, the street to get there is more deserted, more cops. But if you're really to risk, you can find a nice tranny there for $20 to $30 for everything. If you're not interested in Trannys, don't risk it, no reason for you to be down there. [ I seriously doubt if Burt's ever been in this area on Mutualismo?}


I forgot in the past on other sex forums they posted a map supposedly showing where muggings occured, and a lot of those mugging had marks on Article 123. I think some monger just made the shit up. I highly doubt there are any statistics to back up Burt's claim that Article 123 is a muggng zone for crime.

Reservations don't mean much in TJ. Especially in the Zona/downtown area. If you want a room then get there early.

And don't use a credit card downtown or in the Zona. Especially at the Villa Zaragosa.

As I said, Articulo 123 is a street it's best to avoid when possible.


You probably do know the area between F. Martinez and Mutualismo better than I--at least late at night when they trannys are out. Be that as it may, I am familiar with the area and sometimes visit the bars with real chicas on Articulo 123. I stand by my statement that when possible it is best to take an alternate route as Articulo 123 has a much higher than normal rate of muggings. (And cop related problems, as you point out.)

Are you going to get mugged anytime you walk down Articulo 123? No.

But Articulo 123 is one of the places with the highest number of monger reported muggings in TJ. It's not a place to loiter. And it's wisest to walk near the curb and watch who is lurking in doorways and alleys. The street is not as wide as Revo., Constitucion, 2nd, etc. and it's darker than these streets.

Do I go to Articulo 123? Yes--with caution. As I posted, Rio Verde (located on Articulo 123) is one of the small bars I sometimes visit. (It not, however, a tranny bar.)

I never walk in the area by Purple Rain, so I'm not sure if it's safe or not, but it does seem out of the way.

I always hear stories about Articule 123 [ !st street) being unsafe, dark, with narrow streets, with rateros lurking ready to mug you.

But I'm sorry I just don't see the same thing. The streets aren't really narrow except up high by Revolution, but it's filled with people, cops, and bars. In my opinion perfectly safe the upper part of Articlue 123. Now the farther west you go, there are less people in the streets, but the street is wide, walk closer to the street if your afraid of getting mugged. Now if you keep walking west, by F Martinez steet and Mutualmismo( something like that) you are entering 'Tranny"territory' the only main worry you have is a 'Tranny' might blow you a kiss, and ask you if you want to take them to the room?

The only other concern I have over there is the amount of police that patrol the area, they are tons of cops in that area, and I seeing them pull people over for no reason, or stop and search people on the street If I see too many cops on Article 123 I don't go there, and just go back and find me a real women.

I think I know this area better than guys like Burt, because I go there a lot cruising for good looking trannys; unless there is something Burt would like to tell us?

TJ_ChickaAddict...is very correct about the dangers of walking to Purple Rain. It isn't far, but it's very unsafe.

Lot of drugies. You'll find needles, etc. on the sidewalk and lots of rateros. It's also one of the few areas in TJ were I'm scared of the cops. It's a dark area and one of the places corrupt cops go to make a buck. (Big bucks in some cases.)

Another area in which one should be cautious is on Articulo 123. No problems witht the cops, but plenty with rateros. It's a fairly dark, narrow street and you never know who's going to pop out of a door way. (Rio Verde, on Articlo 123, is an interesting bar, but not an overly safe one.)

At night when moving between Constitucion and Revolucion I use Second or Third street, and avoid Articulo 123. IMHO guys staying at the Nelson should think twice about using Articulo 123 when going to the Zona.

I stay at the Hacienda a lot. Burt is right, walking from Constitution to La Tropa or Hacienda at night is not a problem. But under no circumstances would I ever try to walk to purple rain. Thats gang territory, russian roulette and suicide as far as I'm concerened. That's NASTY BAD ASS territory. GL

Not really. It's accross the street from La Tropa.

La Tropa has enough customers there is adequate foot traffic the area is still safe. I'd be careful, however, about walking from La Tropa to Purple Rain. I've walked from La Tropa up Revolucion many times without incident, just has I have from Adeltias or Chicago Club to La Tropa.

Hacienda hotel is a cross street La Tropa bar.
The Taxi will take you there for 5 bucks from the border
at TJ. side.The hotel is very closed to Chicago club and Adelitas
bars .

I stay in TJ. hotels everytime I go down there .
However, I never made any reservation . I just show up at the door
and there is always available room . If not, just take a walk to the next
one on the block. There are many hotel/motel in Zona Norte to choose
from . Hacienda hotel is nice one for 42 dollars

I stay at the Hacienda a lot. The rooms are very nice. They do take reservatons. Call 2 days in advance. 011 52 664 685 4646. Ask for a kitchen. I don't use it, but the rooms are larger like a mini suite. $42 & ck out is 1:00. Get a room on the 4th or 5th floor. You will get a FANTASTIC breeze thru the room. Tip the maid personally, they will steal her tip if you don't. GL
