Things have been calm lately. My buddy BigLou and I were walking through recently when a cop asked me for ID...then asked if I had any drugs which I never carry or use drugs anyway, but I asked him, "What are you selling and how much?" He just laughed and gave me back my ID. Did not even pat me down.

I think you just want to minimize yor time on the street. Be going or comming from someplace, not loitering. The cops are there to rob, if you are moving they'd have to walk after you, easier to pick some standing still.

I live in OC and this happened to a preacher from OC around 14-15 years ago. He is down in TJ with a mission helping the poor orphans when the cops decide to squeeze him telling him that one of the orphans said he molested them and he needs to pay a $2500 fine. the preachers says that is BS I never did anything, so they tossed his ass in jail, and the guy was down there locked up for 7 months awaiting trial. Finally after spending about $25k of his own money for legal fees, the charges are dropped and he is allowed to go home. In hind sight, what should he have done?

I was stopped by the cops once. Of course, I was scared. So they started searching. I pulled out everything out of my pocket and even handed over a wad of money about $300 and he kept searching my jacket. I guess they were looking for drugs. If they found it, then I was going to the pokey. So of course, we did not have drugs or weapons. Thats another thing they were looking for. Knives or guns. Then its the pokey for you. He finished searching and gave my money back. I was shocked he gave my money. I had a real big jacket and he searched for a long time. That is the only experience I had with the cops but other than that TJ is my home away from home. Women loving you to death. They blow away women in the US. I had many hos in the US and the worst experience in TJ is better than the best experience in the US and for the fraction of the cost. Arriba la mexico. On the weekend its really packed. If you walk in Adelitas and you dont see it busy as it used to be because Adelitas is three to four times larger than it used to be. I love Adelitas, Hong Kong bar, Tropical Bar, las chavelas, chicago. To think about, I hate women in the US. I love mexican women and i am arab american. Screw arab women too. They suck.

Do go for your pocket and get your money. This is not the US and the police are not worried about that like in the States. Believe me I have been here 10 years and would have made some of these same mistakes, but reading boards like this one helped.


Do sweat your $32. If people just give it up, they have the attitude that it is ok to steal from the tourists.

What you did wrong is sweat the $32. Consider it a cost of doing business down there. I've never had any problem anywhere maybe it's luck, maybe it's that I'm built like an NFL lineman. Now when I go I take taxis from the boarder to Revolution or the clubs, and when I leave I take a taxi back to La Lina. no more walking through those dark run down parts of town.

If the cop shakes you down, don't put your hand in your pocket, he may think you are going for a weapon and escalate the situation.

Your mistake may have been to be there standing around talking outside on the sidewalk?

In the big picture think of it this way. Would you pay the cop $32 in exchange for not using a colostemy bag for the rest of your life? I would. And BTW that goes for cop shake down anywhere, TJ, or Bumfuck Arkansas. As an old jewish guy I worked with always told me "Eh at least you have your health"
