The right way to do customer service

I thought I'd go see Crystal today, so I called the Bloor Street location. Sure enough, she was in today so I booked an appointment for about a half hour later. New girl took the call.

I got there at the scheduled time and both Crystal and the new girl (who shall remain nameless) answered the door. There was a problem, Crystal as already booked for the time. Both Crystal and the new girl seemed genuinely apologetic about the mistake.

However, this is where they distinguished themselves. Rather than just sending me on my way, Crystal says "come back in 40 minutes, I'll give you the session on the house". Now, I've always been a fan, I've always thought she had style and class, but this made me a lifetime customer.

I'll attempt to read between the lines. I take it you've seen Crystal before and she knows you from before. I also take it that the new girl acknowledged the mistake and by that I mean acknowledged the whole phone discussion and reservation.

I'm just trying to get some clarity as I'd hate to see somebody just show up and try to pull a fast one on the girls by claiming a false appointment to score a free session off Crystal's generousity.

I have not seen Crystal as yet. This makes me want to see her. She seems to be such a genuine person. I think some of those in the corporate world may want to take some tips from her on how to conduct your 'business'
