Tennis Questions For A Newbie!?

Okay so I have a few questions about Tennis for Singles And Doubles.
1.In singles if the server serves the ball from either the left,middle, or right side of the base line does it count if the ball lands in any of the two service box or does it have to land in the one that is diagonal from where the server is serving.
2.When playing doubles, when the server serves the ball and it's not a fault and the receiver receives it because it landed in his service box, for the serving teams side, if the ball hits the service box that's on the servers side it's his ball but can the player on his team that is by the net hit it also? And vice versa, if the balls lands on the player that is by the net's side hit the ball that lands in the servers/the other players service box?

For 1. Yes, you have to serve it diagonal from where you are standing into the box.
For 2. I don't understand your wording, but the person at the net can hit any ball they want except for the serve.

1. it has to land in the side that corresponds with the score. for example, if it's love-love, it must land in the right box. love-fifteen, the left box. i don't know if the server can stand on any part of the baseline, i was taught to stand on the opposite side of the box that you're serving to.

2. yes, the net player can hit it. after the serve and the return (return MUST be hit by the person standing in the box it's going to or else you lose the point) any person can hit it. location doesn't matter. but usually if it's close to you then you hit it, and if it's close to your partner then they will hit it.

1. The first point begins with the server standing to the right of center mark, behind the baseline. The serve *must* land in the service box diagonally opposite the server. Otherwise, the serve is a fault.

The second point begins from the left side of the center mark; again, the serve must land in the service box diagonally opposite the server. The server continues alternating the serving between the right side and the left side until the game is finished.

If the serve hits the court before crossing the net, it is a fault. If the server serves a second fault, that's called a double fault, and the server loses the point.

This makes no sense. However, let's try and clear up one or two concepts for you:

If a "live" ball touches the player or anything the player is wearing or carrying [except the racket], then the player loses the point. This applies to serves, returns, or any shot during the entire point.

The receiving team *must* let the ball bounce before returning the serve.

If the server hits his/her partner with a serve, that is a fault.

If the serve goes over the net and touches either player on the receiving team before it bounces, then the receiving team loses the point. You must let the ball bounce before returning a serve.
