Special Hot Towel Massage

The massage is carried out with two rolled towels soaked with hot water. It covers the neck, shoulders, upper arm and the entire back all the way down to the rump bone/sacrum with a continuous movement of the towel roll.

Duration of treatment: 15 minutes followed by 5 minutes relaxation

Has anyone heard of this? How the heck do you massage with a towel?

I sometimes work through hot towels, mostly compression work. It feels great, but I wouldn't put it as a stand alone session.

I'm actually teaching a technique that utiliizes hot towels next week in Bologna that is a Jamu-Thai massage. Hot towels soaked in medicated oils are a principal part of this session. It's different than what this sounds like though as we don't use the towels rolled up but draw them through the body and mobilize body parts with them. Until my foundation asked me to teach it I had never heard of it. It's done a lot in Java and combining it with Jamu is apparently starting to catch on. I will be teaching it in Paris and perhaps Moscow in the spring.

Weird how these things break into the collective consciousness.
