In the past I've had very few friends and no social life. Okay, I had no friends. I was very depressed because of it. Lately I've been working hard to change this. Now I'm happier than ever! I've met a lot of great people who share my interests and I've gotten out the house a lot more to places I enjoy. I'm proud to say that my friends are good people and very fun to be around.
My parents keep bugging me to introduce my friends to them. I'm hesitant because I know what they'll do. My problem is, my family isn't accepting of different kinds of people. Sadly I hate to admit it but they're very judgemental of people who aren't straight, Christian, or "normal looking" (as I am a goth and many of my friends are as well). One look at my friends and I know they'll talk badly about them and perhaps make them feel uncomfortable. As well as make my life a living hell for hanging out with them. This happened in the past with one of my only friends. Sadly, I had to stop hanging out with her because of my parents. It's as if they're happy with me not having a social life or friends.
What should I do?
PS: I am 25 years old and not a teenager. Although I feel I'm being treated like one.
