Making a jump from Bk to Shg might leave you a bit glum. Thailand is geared towards all types of tourism - from families to horndogs.

In terms of safety, I think Shg is very safe compared to Bk and actually more cleaner as well. Also its more organized and a bigger market for shopping.

In terms of mongering, you will be disappointed due to the fact that these things are hidden and one needs insider info. Other problem is the language barrier which is pretty bad. They have a completly different chinese name even for proper nouns like lets say "coke" "sprite" etc. So imagine telling the taxi driver to drop you at Holiday Inn hotel ... good luck!!

The last but not least, unlike Thailand, there arent exhange booths or foreign ATM counters all around the block. You will have to exchange at your 5* hotel counter or take a passport to the local bank.

Been to both places
Shang Hai has beter hotels , though both countries are good when it comes to hotels. Service is similar. When it concerns to the girlies . Well Bangkok gets you more for your dollar. But a change and beter looking girls are been found in Shang Hai . There are ugly mama's there too but the most are beter looking than the thai females. My thoughts when it comes to Shang Hai and Bangkok when it comes to massageparlours is that thai sexmasage is unbeatable comparing it too chinese sexmassage though the chinese have a good one also. Dont forget the hot and cold blowjob and the 360 swing fuck in China in the beter salons

I would never recommend Shanghai for a mongering vacation. The average working girl is going to be asking for RMB 1500. Sex at a descent sauna is going to be around RMB 700. Cost wise, Thailand or Philippines are much better options. If you still want to come to Shanghai make sure the hotel is on the Puxi side (A river divides the city). I don't know the World Union but checked its location. That would be a great area to stay in. It's walking distance to quit a few locations and taxi from there to anywhere else would be cheap.

I have been to bangkok a few times now and feel like i may need a change. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion of which may be better, shanghai or bangkok. And where the girls may be better. Price difference etc.
