Before some games during this postseason, Steph Curry has been caught dancing and singing an old viral song known as “Jones BBQ and Foot Massage” before making his way onto the court. And he doesn’t do it alone. He’s usually joined by the ushers in Oakland.
Even though he was in enemy territory for Game 4 on Friday night, he still made time to do the dance. It looked absolutely hilarious. The arena employee probably had no idea what was happening as the NBA MVP did his jig alone.
Update: Warriors social media coordinator Julie Phayer has clarified what may actually be going on here.
The Vine is still hilarious.
This is what Curry told ABC News about the ritual:
“If I miss a beat, I get a little nervous and have to go back and redo my steps,” Curry told ABC News of the routine. “It kinda gets me in game mode, so I kinda enjoy it.”
Here’s Curry before Game 7 vs. the Thunder.
And here he is before Game 2 vs. the Cavaliers.
It’s all weird, but in a good way, I think.
This is the OG video from 2009.
An earlier version of this post was headlined saying the usher was from Cleveland. The Warriors social media coordinator clarified that it’s a Warriors security member.
