After reading for years that it is 'SP NOT friendly', I got harrassed out of the restaurant for reading PLAYBOY (No, I did not unfold the Playmate

Manager, and 2 :twisted:security guards boxed me in. I am just a feeble old man of course, but I also realized the fascists:grrrrrr: could just lock me out of my room if they wanted.
Backed away with much growling and waving of claws*.

If you mean the downtown one, are you really surprised? They market themselves as a family hotel. Look around, there's tones of kids around. It's absolutely inappropriate to be reading a playboy or dress provocatively... To be honest if I were there with a friend and they pulled out a Playboy, I would ask them to put it away - and this is coming from someone that has some pretty obscene Hentai on her coffee table.

It isn't fascit to expect people to act in ways appropriate to their environment.

Cmon man, I know that you're a smart gent. It's completely distasteful and inappropriate to read playboy in the common areas or restaurant of any hotel, and you know that. It doesn't matter who is around. If you were at the Hazelton, Soho, Intercontinental someone would say something there too.

I would venture to guess that reading a playboy would be fine at the econolodge (Jarvis/Gerrard) or the Waverly (College/Spadina), but who knows.

Now, on another note, I've stayed at the DC 5 times, all hobby related and never had any problems with any services. In fact, a few years back, I went to the Jos Stone concert with a friend, and we played on the balcony! :great: Oh, and one young lady (Taylor-Divas) answered the door (room service) in a towel, and somehow the towel fell. That waiter had such a smile, he didn't even want a tip!

Frankly, I think it's inappropriate at *almost* any hotel restaurant to be reading that kind of literature. There are some really hip places that cater to a young party crowd - but they're mostly in NYC and Vegas. I haven't been in a single hotel in Toronto where I'd feel comfortable pulling out softcore porn.

Yes, Ms. Summerhill is a lady of class. Lauren's is a rags to riches story and I applaud her for her successes. I hope not too nouveau riche as that can become bothersome to those around. However, I do agree reading such material in public is tacky.
