Question for the AMP guys

I love reading the reviews on the Dallas AMP's and just been a little nervous about driving down there to partake for my first true AMP experience. Hit a few in the burbs, but sounds like it doesn't compare.

Besides the above, my question to you guys who go to the AMP's often, I'm assuming you are all a mix of either married, dating someone or single. Based on how outstanding these visits seem to go and the quality of how hot the Asian girls are, are there any avenues of expressing your excitement of seeing these girls with others you know in your personal life?

Just wondering, I have kept my hobby world pretty much to myself and sometimes I wish I had more of my friends I felt comfortable sharing stories with. Do you guys feel the same way? Sometimes I think some of my friends would think it is cool, some would maybe think I'm crazy, I dunno? Do you have these discussions with your friends or do you keep these stories for the massageplanet boards?

but anyway...

i started out wanting to keep my hobby world completely seperate from my real life. and for the most part i do. but i have met a few guys, through the old aspd, and we became sort of 'hobby buddies'. it is certainly not something you talk about with co-workers around the water cooler though. and my dearest oldest friends know nothing about what i do, except for one buddy in houston i have known for 25 years or so. never know what could get back to someone you don't want to know.

but if you do manage to meet up with a few hobbyists, say at a SC or bar, it's nice to have someone to bullshit with about it. and you may even manage to make a few friends that way like i have. fuck i had to completely re-cable a HD TV surround sound system the other day for a guy i met sort of through aspd. and i swear i'll return his ladder one of these days. after he loans me his chainsaw....

funny story. got a call from an amp girl i know well and she wanted to meet me for a late lunch one day she was off. i owed my brother (who knows nothing about what i do) some money, and told him i would be at Pappadeaux's later and he could meet me there...kinda of in the middle for us. i asked the girl if that was ok and she said sure. he showed up and the girl insisted he stay and have some food and he did and we had a great time. to this day he has no idea he had lunch with an amp legend.

I do have 4 of my own reviews I have done on 2 suburban AMP's and 2 indy's, but some reason a review from Lakeman shows up attached to me (from a backpage ad in Springfield, MO)?? I have been AMPing for about 15 years, 10 in Dallas. There actually is no other place. I have met several people through ASPD, massageplanet, and other events that do not exist. Of course, they know some of my story and I know theirs.

Other than that, one real life guy friend knows. He is single as I am. One real life female knows. She is a close family member and is one of the coolest people I know. Other than those two my r/l people do not know.

I know a few r/l people who would not condemn me. Some would quietly drool all over themselves. The point is, a bell can not be unrung. What if other interpersonal problems should someday develop. When you tell someone of this activity you have just handed them a loaded gun with you in the crosshairs.

Unusual question. I'm relatively new to amping but have nothing but great experiences with the Dallas Amps. I may not even know how lucky we other than how lucky I am told we are by those who have frequented other amps in other states as well as the amps in the suburban areas.

I will say I frequented and sampled a pretty fair share of them. With the exception of very close friends, I do not think it would be a subject I would cross.

The PM option on this board will allow me to share a few stories with hobbyists who are mentioned by providers by their massageplanet handle. Only a few providers know my massageplanet handle. And Dallas has some of the nicest providers.

I've never done anything OTS with any of the providers, but would never miss the opportunity to share my kindness as a friend to any of them if they asked or inquired.
I think my reaction would be similar to a fellow hobbyist who I felt was one of the more upstanding and decent members.

I'd say keep it to yourself. While its nice to boast about our adventures, there's just too many people out there who frown on the hobby. Funny thing is, when my old room mates asked where I've been all night, I usually told them out drinking and got hooked with a cute girl. Which is 99% true.....its that last 1% that people don't like. Just amend your stories that tiny bit if you must kiss and tell. They'll either think you're a very good player or full of shit. Either way, its better than having a bunch of hypocritical judgement tossed your way.

i'm not married now and have not been since i discovered the amps a decade or so ago. not counting my amp buddies met here and on aspd a handful of my close friends know. all women. very cool women. 2 or 3 maybe. one in particular bemoans the fact that there are not amps for women. i always respond to her that the entire world is a woman's amp. almost any woman can get laid at will with little or no effort for free. my closest friends have full security clearance. we know everything about one another. it's nice to have a few friends like that.

I appreciate the responses, kind of what I had anticipated. I have one friend that knows a bit about my experiences, he doesn't know all, but a few. One being my first pay for experience at the old Swedish Institute that was around about 6 or 7 years ago. He was with me! Ha, but now he is married and I don't really discuss with him my adventures since then.

I look forward to more and to hopefully meeting some fellow hobbyists down the road!

Springfield - I would definitely recommend making the trek to Dallas. Within the past month I have driven up twice from Houston based upon Seedman's and the Dallas board recommendations. You will not regret it - sort of a Yankees dynasty lineup of talent.
As far as telling friends about your hobby I would be very selective.

I'm single but because of my occupation and place within the organization, I am very, very discreet about the hobby. I have one "confidante" that's a friend from this board, and we PM regularly, but in terms of non-hobby friends, no one knows. This can be a very lonely hobby in that sense.

As for OTC with the girls, I've spent some OTC time with a few. To me it's not a big deal...I mean OTC, they are just regular women...many dress relatively conservatively outside of the profession and a few I know don't even wear makeup when outside (as if they need it).

I had to laugh at that one. I believe we actually met at an even that doesn't exist. Anyway.

Springfield, the old addage "loose lips sink ships" still rings true if you are married or attached. Be very careful with whom you speak about the hobby. News travels fast and slips of the lips happen often, especially through phone texts and emails that never really seem to disappear. It's a full time job just staying stealthy and under the radar; without having to worry about outside influences. Good luck.

I've been hobbying longer than I care to remember. I probably have shoes older than many of the guys on this board, so that should give you an indication of my age.

I moved to the DFW area almost 8 years ago, and I've been going to the AMPs since I first got here. Before that, it was mostly rub and tugs, SC's and a few indies.

I can pretty much echo everyone who's posted so far.

I learned very early to compartmentalize my hobby life. No one in my real life is aware of what I do; and if they were, they would be shocked beyond description - I come from an ultra conservative background.

I too have made a few good "hobby friends"; either through the old ASPD or some other social network that we all frequented. It is nice to BS about the hobby with guys who have like interests. I remember one time, a hobby friend said to me "Can you imagine me introducing you to a non-hobbying friend or relative, and telling him you and I met because we like to fuck the same girls". To a non-hobbyist, that would probably be pretty shocking.

I also have a couple of PM buddies who I talk to on a regular basis and have never met in person. But I know I can trust them because of the relationship we've established via PM. It's hard to describe, but it's just a feeling you get from certain individuals, and you know you can trust them with your innermost hobby secrets.

I will also echo the advice to keep it to yourself. No matter how well you think you know someone in your real life, confiding your hobby interest in them could change that relationship forever, and it may not be for the good.

BTW - I don't think everything written in this post is restricted to AMP hobbyists. The hobby is the hobby no matter where your interests lay.

You need to take the plunge and visit one of these beautiful, caring and complicated AMP girls in the Dallas AMPs. Once you do, you'll be hooked.

I would never share this with friends ouside the bizz, but I have had a few beers and bullshit a few times with another member which is nice. Kimchi is right, hobby is amps, indies, studios, whatever but eventually you may levitate to another member with common interests and possibly strike up a friendship(s).
