German police raided several properties in Hamburg
About 450 German police officers have stormed brothels in the northern port city of Hamburg, seizing guns and knives and arresting seven men.
The overnight raids focused on the red-light district of St Pauli.

As well as nine brothels, 28 homes and other properties were raided. Seven men aged between 26 and 43 were detained.

Fears of fresh violence between rival gangs prompted the raids, which police said was the largest co-ordinated operation in the area for a decade.

In May, armed robbers attacked a brothel, leaving one man with gunshot wounds and prompting concern that a turf war was brewing.

Six guns were seized in Friday's raid, as well as swords, knives and stun guns.

The seven detained men are mostly suspected of causing injury and breaking weapons laws.
